Whenever my fuel tanks 150 a piece get low, filler up run a lot of IL so try to buy a few hundred gallons a quarter for IFTA.
But usually end up breaking even on IFTA or only owing 40 or 50.00 per quarter.
Usually put about 260 or 270 gallons on
Couldn’t do the micromanaging of a company driver. I understand why they do it. Most drivers just get in and drive and give no thought to why or how they effect the bottom line.
How often do yall stop to fuel with rising rates?

Hey Hawk! Another old fart here! The 55mph on all 4-lane or more highways was put into law in 1974 and only stayed in place until1987 when they allowed states that wanted to, to raise the speed limits again. Some states didn't raise them back for years.Grumppy, Numb and Studebaker Hawk Thank this.

Its a crete company. They don't write me up, but in the past they threatened to slow down trucks of drivers who disregard the stops.
They won't write me up and they won't slow down my truck. If they aren't happy with the job I am doing, I'll drive elsewhere.
The runs are long and I am making pretty good, so overall I am happy. Just wondering how common it is, stopping multiple times a day, 50 gallons here and 60 gallons there.bryan21384 Thanks this. -
Now what really bugs me is they run me low. Like down to point my fuel light is on sometimes -- it drives me nuts.
What if I get to the fuel stop and their pumps aren't working? They would be trucking fuel out to my truck, which is kind of embarrassing.CargoWahgo and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Here is the wikipedia article on the topic:
National Maximum Speed Law - Wikipedia
You are correct, it started at the 1st Arab Oil Embargo in 1974, and in 1979 was "strongly enforced" all over again.
And certain sections of Interstate highways qualified for 65 mph, nothing higher in 1987, until 1995.
And as you also know, many areas used it as a cash cow for the entire time, refusing to increase speed limits when allowed.
Since we have almost 2 generations of drivers here who have never known such folly, I didn't want to bore them with the details.
Suffice to say with ELD's and a 14 hour clock, such a measure now would be draconian.

Are you talking about Hunt Transportation?
I'd have to consider taking that punishment of a slow truck or a write up. If you run out of fuel, they are going to spend big money to bring you fuel, the savings is out the door, at least for that run. -
Yep Hunt Transportation. They are pretty good over all. Good, long runs. Not much tarping at all, and not much north east. I got to do some oversized loads, which was fun. Some guys don't like OD, but I don't mind it.
Not to sound too much like a spoiled little brat, but if they slow my truck down, I won't drive it. I do my best with the fuel.
I don't think they'll try. But, I did just screw up two fuel stops in a row -- so we'll see. Lol :Sbryan21384 Thanks this. -
Man bro, I don't envy that position. It's already mentally draining enough to even run a load sometimes and then to remember to remember how much to put in at each stop? Geez now that's serious.

I've never used my locking caps...until now.

You're going to need the fuel, so fuel when available and convienent. Prices can go up or down overnight.
