sure is under Local 29. My boy, during his early years, went in often and worked the "sort". and now he cannot understand the "low men" not taking advantage of this option.

I never did it or had the opportunity offered to me. I probably would have near the end of my 7 month layoff, but drivers ahead of me did. They weren’t forced to work the Hub, but were given the option verses lay-off. Problem was at our location it was two separate four hour shifts. 2nd day air (mid morning to early afternoon) and next day air (midnight to early morning). I guess it depended on one’s household income whether they did it or took unemployment. This was not long after 9-11 when things were really slow.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

@TJTexas sign up as quickly as you can!! Livonia is bursting with freight right now. Amazon is putting up new buildings all around the Metro and UPS can’t hire enough drivers to keep up with the demand out of that building. They are also adding sleeper teams to that building which will give you a chance if you want it or it will move guys that are senior to you out of your way
LtlAnonymous and Banker Thank this. -
@TJTexas one other thing. Working for UPS is completely different than any other trucking company out there. They actually don’t consider themselves a trucking company. It is a very militant environment at most buildings. Livonia it very laid back compared to most others.
LtlAnonymous and Banker Thank this.
