I want to ask, everyone knows that the prices for trucks are very high.
But how much lower were used truck prices 3 years ago?
Say twice? Or at three? Or 10%?
Thank you!

I remember when fleets turned in their half million mile trucks you could pick them up for $40-$50k.
Now those same trucks are triple the price.shooter19802003, D.Tibbitt, Rubber duck kw and 2 others Thank this. -
Just wondering why don't to buy trucks like this https://www.truckpaper.com/listings/trucks/for-sale/211083767/2012-kenworth-t800 etc at this time?
T800 are cheaper, and still good for vans, reefers and flats, so why are everyone is buying 500k Volvo instead of smaller, but 3 times cheaper T800? -
A lot of it. Look a the nose of that truck. It's pretty on the outside for sure, but it's got a nasty booger on the inside that gives no more than 6 mpg. Compare that to the high 8/9.0 mpg Evolutions that have the aerodynamics package and of course, proper specs for what you are doing with the truck. Here's an example.
You drive 110,000 loaded miles per year at get 6 mpg compared to 9 mpg. Based on Diesel at 5.25 per gallon right now.
The truck that gets 6 mpg will spend 96,250 dollars per year in fuel. For the truck that gets 9 mpg, it will spend 64,000 per year, so literally in year one, the difference saved is about 32 thousand dollars. By the end of year two, 64,000 dollars. The difference in price is made up for in roughly 24 months, so after two years, you've broke even. After 4 years, you've lost 64,000 dollars and you also have an older truck that likely had more maintenance issues than the 9mpg truck.midwest_trucker Thanks this. -
That truck Sleeper is so small there's no place to store your flip flops and box of donuts.Jammer', shooter19802003, Rubber duck kw and 2 others Thank this.

What Sleeper? I don't see one, lol. On a serious note, if you can rough it for 2 years and you buy a NEW truck with the small sleeper, that's where you can arguably get your best bang for the buck. It's incredible how much sleeper berths raise the price of a truck as the width expands, but the extra metal on the outside of the truck and the extra material on the inside of the truck in the sleeper is nowhere near the actual added cost in which the truck is marked up. But, dealers know that Truckers want comfort and will pay the money for comfort.midwest_trucker Thanks this.

4.63 gear ratio with a 18 speed power by a isx12 at 425 hp . A very slow truck that’s under powered yet set up as a heavy haul with gearing . No wonder why they are cheaper lol

Halliburton truck, for sure. It may only have 100,000 miles on it but they're HARD miles. Definitely not an OTR truck. Definitely not built for comfort. -
I've been looking for something decent but ANYTHING that's in good shape sells at whatever price its posted at. Regardless of price.
I'm taking some time off between companies so I will get some work done to mine and just keep it. Frame paint, and some cab touch ups.
This was only $170k to build in 2018. It has 1mil kms on it. And it's not even real clean looking.
Craziness.
