    Twist your straps on either side 180 unless they are under the tarp, all I had to say in order to provide you with an advise. No flapping, no vibration, pad your corners with cut 10Inch pieces of straps to prevent them from rubbing off and being cut, double folded.. pad your tarps on sharp corneas with $5 pillows American blue striped from Walmart to prevent them from rubbing off.)

    Thanks for the warning. :D Seriously, congrats, and good luck...out there. Don't be a stranger like the rest of these bobtail members that forget where they got information. We like follow ups here, so we know how people we've tried to help are getting along, and as they go, they can always get more help and educate us, too. There's things they might ask we need to learn about also.

    I always love the ones that ask for advice on a company to go with, or some other such issue...and then never come back to respond, and the thread, although it might be of use to someone else, they never get to hear the follow up, so they don't know what to make of it. :( They're going to be off duty for 10 hours. You know they're checking email, so it shouldn't be to hard to check in here, too.

    On a less serious note, Gemini, the next company I have in mind, doesn't go up that way....so I'm good, but as soon as you're roaming south of Utah, give a shout out so I'll know to check my six...three...nine....and twelve. :biggrin_255::biggrin_25523:

    The other give their opinion. Mine, I use the twist when the strap has a long way to travel up the side of a load, like some of those areas that leave the strap exposed to the wind. For loads that are lower to the deck, and less likely to be effected by the wind (unless they're loose) I tend to keep them straight and taut. The reason is simple...when I was going down the road and checking my mirrors, I could see the straps moving back and forth, which I know will cause a see sawing action, possible cutting the strap. With the twist in it, it tends to tighten up and change the aerodynamics of that strap, and you notice less movement of the strap in the wind. It's something you'll have to experience..when the first time a strap you know is tight, ends up being cut from that movement. Took me twice to figure it out...I was running out of spare straps. :( But if I've got plate steel, or even something a little higher, OR under a tarp, I do a straight strap.

    You'll have to learn what works best for you but it's like I said, it takes time, and if you're alert, you'll be answer your own questions, too, as you experience them. Even if you hear someone talk about it or explain it, seeing it and experiencing it is more valuable and longer lasting of an impression, than just hearing it second hand. :)

    And I will never forget the ones that have/still do help me!! Hell I'd even love having the opportunity to meet y'all too....lunch or something maybe one day. My treat as a thanks for all the help everyone gives while trying to make it in this industry. I've had a lot of jobs that people don't help each other. People don't care either. I know trucking has changed a lot, but at least there are still good drivers out there and even new ones who are willing to help with what they can.

    I don't want to cut in front of anyone or piss anyone off, but yeah.

    Screw that mess! I’ll stick to my cornfield/backyard deliveries lol.

    In my very brief experience with nucor, you park wherever and call the scale house and they call you back whenever they #### well please, in whatever order they please. Could be five minutes or five hours. Of course I’ve only been to the one in kankakee, can’t speak for any other locations.

    @Kyle G.

    It hasn't been too bad. It was a few days ago because the railroad near the one in Plymouth was all torn apart....they or whoever was doing or replacing something regarding the tracks, so they only had one entrance/exit. Same place. I luckily didn't go there that day because my boss didn't want to deal with that ####! Today was bad because I think one of the scales (to go out of Nucor) broke, so everyone was having to use the single one for traffic in both exiting and entering, so yeah.

    CAXPT, cke and Kyle G. Thank this.
