When you tightened them were they sloppy loose or did they tighten right up? Those pins are like wedges and are a tight fit in the axle and against the king pin. If they were sloppy loose they probably owe you an axle.

They did tighten right up. Not sloppy. But after tightening is when I heard the pop down the road about 20 miles.

Sounds like you had the work done at Rush Truck Centers Amarillo.

The last time i had my engine rebuilt, I talked to Rush about it. They have that policy of no customers in the shop, I questioned them about it and they said I wouldn't be allowed back there. I went to the Cat house, their shop boss said I could go back into the shop and take a look and talk to the mechanic at anytime.

It's best to be able to talk to the guy doing the work. Some people you don't want working on your equipment.

I had a front diff replaced there last year with new yoke and u-joint with new bolt kit. Got home to NY to find the u-joint strap had a gap. One bolt was loose I could turn with my fingers, 2 more needed a turn and a half to get to torque and, one more needed half turn to torque. Surprisingly no vibration on the way home. $5500 for an incomplete job. Never go there again.

They didn't ream the bushings to the proper size. The pins were spinning in the axle housing. I wouldn't be taking anything else to these people. They had to know it was wrong when they assembled it.

I thought it was common practice for new keeper bolts to be installed with new kingpins? I watch a guy on YouTube that does nothing but suspension work and he always uses new bolts.

They were new keepers and bolts. Not sure what happened. Shop replaced both King Pins and made right on the job. They are sending the broke king pin set in to the company for testing they said to see why the pin broke. Actually I gotta go pick up the truck today as it was done yesterday.
