No offense meant, friend...you're not landing on your feet, you're landing on your face. Look at the first post on this thread and look at today. That is NOT landing on your feet.

But anyways, we are all adults and have to make our own decisions. It's your face to land on and it's still a free country, so I will back out completely. Adios.

I have to ask....how does a father get sole custody of his kids because that would never happen HERE unless the mother was crazy or a criminal or proven drug addict.

IMHO you're being more of a negative influence on your kids than a positive one.

It's important for a dad to be there for his kids. Equally as important, a dad needs to be a role model to them as well. What kind of role model are you portraying to them by sitting at home all day being a "nanny?"

You said you worked 80+ hours a week for four years. Not according to your post history here you haven't. But even if you had, welcome to be being a man and doing what needs to be done to support those who depend on you.

Maybe I'm to opinionated and harsh, but I have no sympathy for you. Surely you've heard @TripleSix tell of the waitresses he has come across and their stories of the "men" in their lives. You're no different than them.

I still work part time. I work 2 nights a week playing poker. I make enough money at it, that I don't need to spend more time away from my kids.

My numbers are a little low because I haven't played in 2 weeks but I'm averaging $5k a month. I will probably reduce my playing time because it was easier when I was in Houston and I'm waiting on some contacts to find me some local home games here in West Texas.

My kids see me going to work on a regular basis. When I was in Houston, I would do odd jobs here and there to break up the monotany.

I got full custody of my son back in 1990 when he was 18 months old & I was running regional. Had my sister & a great babysitter help me out until I got a local gig hauling gas & even then as needed.

Some women are just incubators & not good mothers, my ex is an example. She knew I'd fight tooth & nail to keep my son from being raised by the woman she turned out to be. Even with reduced responsibilities she couldn't/wouldn't live up to them.

What truck driver do you know can sit at home?

I don't teach my kids to be invalids. I live my entire life as an adventure. I teach my kids, every day is an adventure.

This year, was beach adventures. We went to Crystal Beach, Brian Beach and every were in between. On days we didn't go to the beach, we learnt rock wall climbing. We found the best parks to climb a rock wall.

Then since we went to Midland. We found a waterpark. We have been there like 8 times. My kids have learnt to dive under water..

Next week, we are going to go sliding on the sand dunes. That is something that I never have done. I am not a boring dad, I push my kids to the limit.

They benefit from time with me.

I'm not a stump of a log dad. But I've learnt from so many of you, living on the road, sacrificing for your kids. My kids will know I put them first.

Hey guys, just getting back into the industry after a hiatus. After traveling through the mountains of California and Colorado at the start of covid-19, I moved to Canada and got into farming and food security. I moved back to Texas about 3 months ago, been working a local job mostly hauling backhoe's, rollers and graders. Hauled a couple of d6's the week before. My boss said he is lining up a D8 on Monday so I thought I would do a little home work and come back on here. I think I hauled 1 D8 before with my old paving company when I was pulling a 4 axle rgn and 3 + pusher tractor.

Got any advice for someone who is a little green and rusty?
