Wasn't planning on rebuilding anything. I was going to replace the trucks. Now the supply chain is totally screwed and can't get one.
I've had a Western Star on order. It was supposed to have been delivered in January of this year. Now they're saying before the end of the year.
It appears now rebuilding is the way to go for a while, especially with the crazy prices of these trucks.Another Canadian driver, Speed_Drums, JoeyJunk and 7 others Thank this. -
So this week was my one year anniversary here, hard to believe it’s already been a year.
In this 1st year I grossed $249,932.45 on 104045 hub miles, that’s $2.40 rev all miles. After all expense my profit was $1.17 per mile. Not great, but a hell of a lot better than what I was doing on a mileage contract. Looking at my numbers, my maintenance costs were a total $21,948.84 which was .21 cents per mile. My goal is to working on getting that number lower. This past year I put all new tires, brakes/drums, and shocks on the truck, which was a drastic portion of that number.
Overall I’m happy I made the move, I love the freedom I have here. Running where and when I want to, and taking off as much time as I choose. My goal is to run less than 100K miles this year.Another Canadian driver, Speed_Drums, LadeDi and 12 others Thank this. -
My normal fuel cost per mile is .54 per mile, in the last few weeks when fuel was as volatile as it was, that number got as high as $1.01 per mile. Now that it’s settled a bit and the fuel surcharge has caught up, and I’ve slowed down my speed that cost per mile is looking better.

People can say what they will about Kevin Rutherford, but I do miss his program and how he could shake down the numbers like this, it helps me to understand the business side of trucking so much more. I would say, based on the way you laid it out, and the fact that you "know your numbers", is exactly what you need to be doing to be profitable in this business, good on ya' driver. Now all we have to listen to in that time slot is the same old drivers, calling in with the same old one liners, at least that used to be 3 hours of my day that I kind of looked forward to, especially Mike Beckett's hour on Thursdays.

Glad it is all going well and that you had a very successful first year running solo.

And when Nemo retires, I won’t listen to that moron Jimmie Mac. He thinks he’s so hilarious and laughs at his own stupid jokes. When he’s on I just change the channel.Another Canadian driver, JoeyJunk, Lonesome and 5 others Thank this. -
Been seriously considering making the leap and doing the lease purchase program here at FCC like you did Runningman. I was initially pretty worried about the fuel cost hikes lately though, but I've talked to multiple guys doing the lease and it sounds like the fuel surcharge and fuel discounts have kept up with it enough to make it livable at least. Right now the major hang-up is on health insurance. My wife has insurance through her work and can add my daughter and I on it, but the premiums increase fairly significantly. However, I would no longer be paying the insurance I do now, so I just need to convince her ( and myself) that I can consistently make a couple hundred per week more after setting aside for taxes then I currently do as a company driver. Getting pretty frustrated with the whole thing, might just say the heck with it and keep doing what I'm doing. I make good money now, I'm just looking towards the future and the potential to make significantly more and have more freedom in the future.

Stayed out and ran 10 days, grossed $12,502.34 to the truck. My goal is a $1000.00 a day, after LS gets their cut. Even though rates have dropped, I’m still able to meet my goal. I ran out of my normal lanes, up into Minnesota, reloaded in Wisconsin that came back down into the Carolinas.
I’m taking the next four days off, it’s opening weekend at the Lake, so we’re headed up this weekend to open the RV. We are looking forward to getting up there and relaxing for a few days.Another Canadian driver, Speed_Drums, Vic Firth and 8 others Thank this.
