I thought that I read somewhere that international trading is moving away from using the US dollar and they're going to trade using other forms of currency because the American dollar is going to be worthless and that will further weaken the American dollar apparently.

The brilliant VP said the American voters got what they ordered...

I had one of our trucks do 12.5k last week. He spent 1700 in fuel. Most of our trucks are averaging 11k. Rates seem fine to me.

Well I am glad for you and your guys but I don't think this is kind of like a chart where you see it sharply fall off and everyone experiences the same.

I would think of this more like waves and ripples that some may be more affected in one area or in one aspect of this business and as it goes on and depending how volatile it is it probably will work its way through most everyone.

No one knows what is coming or how severe it will be but I think it's safe to say we're not nearly in the bad part of this yet.

    I think your right..
It's like the child that the parent tells them ...Don't touch the burner on the stove because it's hot and it will burn you
But the child doesn't belive them untill they get burned

In college I delivered pizzas and drove a Nissan Sentra 5 spd. I would deliver to the cooks, 8 guys in a 3 bedroom apartment, little furniture, clean apartment, bed rolls on the ground. They stay in country like this for 5 or 10 years and go back to the homeland or buy a house in Chicago land, with the money they saved. Most cooked at two or three restaurants.

Be a good time to sell my equipment and buy a Restaurant. If I were younger, I’d be looking for another Business. There’s so many Opportunities right now. Jobs available that no longer require even an Associates degree. The Trades are hurting for workers. People are tired of working menial Jobs for minimum wage. Not many are interested in OTR. If they are, most won’t last, they won’t want to do the job. Hard Workers that can pass a drug test are very hard to find. We might just stay in demand for a while longer. None of Us should sell ourselves short.

Not necessarily. I can be back into a good place and pick up another great paying load a lot easier and faster than losing a bunch of time on trash headache freight AND it's much less wear and tear on my equipment to come back empty.

"Back haul" is nothing more than brokerspeak. It's a made up word to trick the ignorant into selling themselves short on the rate. The rate is the same anywhere regardless of the direction it's heading in. Whether it's empty or not my expenses are the same.

But then it all flips because you're having so much fun you don't want to turn the key and leave.

Exactly backhaul became the norm both ways in 2008 . The more that justify it by saying it covers fuel will find that’s all they will ever get when the crunch hits.. guys we’re pulling super b lumber loads for .75 a mile for 700 miles to get to better freight but only found crumbs because the guys who ran empty scooped up the freight the day before.
