I just pack a bunch if 2" straps. Easy and handy in many situations. Now that inhave Fenders on my drives, I don't have clearance for much of anything there.

Yep, that's why I bought them as co driver. It took care of securement problems over tires, and especially when using a step and needing to secure near the tires, which never seemed to be positioned where a winch was, so...grab a spool and use a chain/rachet strap combo.

Bear in mind theres 3 sizes, tall, medium and tiny, ive got medium on all the way round, getting my hands to work the strap in the tiny ones is difficult in cold weather, if it must be dead over the tire, ive got plenty of portable winches including a few 4", plus in cold weather anything near the tire is just asking to be coated in road grime, salt and frozen, so portables are preferable there for that too.
The tall winches are dumb, never saw a point in their existence periodPoleCrusher, CAXPT, cke and 4 others Thank this. -
Ok. Didn't see Unimark on the door so I wasn't sure. I worked for them for two weeks a couple years ago.PoleCrusher, CAXPT, shooter19802003 and 3 others Thank this.

My brother leased on with them for a couple months. Once he figured out how much easier it was to haul cars and he could make more money for less time he jumped ship. I had hauled cars for 15 years prior and helped him Load one time in Dundalk and that was it for me!PoleCrusher, Lostkeys, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this.

Do you have experience with pocket winches ?? I’ve never had one. Never been close enough to form an opinion.PoleCrusher, exhausted379, BigBob410 and 5 others Thank this.

Used em, dont care for them much, probably better on all steel trailers, but theyre bulky, heavy and a pita to store when you dont need em, also more dificult to use on wider loadsthat come out towards the trailer edge, aditionally theyre useless depending on height of load (plate steel), recommend a couple 4 inch ratchets insteadBigBob410, Kyle G., PoleCrusher and 6 others Thank this.

I still have yet to see something a pocket winch can do that a hand ratchet can’t. Other then get in the way.

Yep, 48 ft trailer and he's at least one chain shy, but he's got overhang front and back, so prudence would dictate at least one chain front and back on that lower level with the 6th for overall length on the top level.
