I use PC as much as 3-4 times a week. Not just to go buy groceries or errands etc, but I will log PC just to move around the yard to get closer to the WiFi antenna.

I could do the crawl, but we were advised not to do that as there was risk messing up a break or a 34 and safety was fed up with drivers calling them to fix a 2 minute driveline screw up.

Totally unnecessary. Used incorrectly, even 1 mile is excessive. Used correctly even 600 miles can be appropriate.

    Is that really true though?

I dont use pc at all, messes with taxes anyway (o/o) driving is driving, yes im on paper, but i log the same way as i did with the elog, just easier for a human to read and understand (seriously, the printed log on an elog is just a nightmare)

Picked up lumber for a shed with my semi n trailer on a weekend, logged it as driving, just not worth the headache of the "creativity" anyway. So whats the issue?

Lowest common denominator, which is an old conversation, i wont rehash it.

I neither need nor care about pc, but they (fmcsa) created it and now they get to deal with the grey areas they created by forcing people onto elogs and also giving them "pc"

Anyone ever see hard numbers about whether or not big truck crashes caused by fatigued drivers have actually dropped like they claimed? Seems to me I see WAY more speeding through construction zones and tailgating from trucks than I ever did before. That could be just a different generation of driver, but I suspect it has more to do with Elogs? Personally, I’ll just keep driving my older truck at a slower speed for a couple of extra hours every day and leave the Elog crowd to keep the weeds down in the hammer lane

Yes. Even here there are people that refuse to read the guidance as written. For example there is one person firmly believes he can go home from his last delivery PC, even though that example is given in the things not allowed.
(Since you don't use PC you might not know. It's fine to go home from the terminal after your day is over. It's not fine to go from the last shipper to home as it's still part of the trip.)

How about if you left the trailer there?

Maybe? I'd would softly say no, but I very much would also say to ask a DOT officer.
Actually re-reading the guidance I don't even know if I would say no. I'll just say it's a grey area and the DOT officer will interpret it depending on his mood.

    We're allowed 2 hours.

I remember one of our local DOT to the forum said," Think of it like anything you'd use a taxi for. That's legal."

I have used it to go to a truck stop when the receiver won't let you stay.

Let them do away with it. Remember when e logs started and everyone was piled at the receivers????

It cost people like P&G tens of millions in detention, and wages to keep enough people there to unload trucks in a timely manner.

People just forget. That's why we have the nutbags we have now running things.

Personal Conveyance- Going to eat...hey look at that, there's a waitress that looks just like my wife, and those 2 kids right over there sure look familiar, this cozy little restaurant even has laundry machines and a bed just like mine, I must be in the bizzaro world!

Got to drop off paperwork at the terminal before going home? 30 minute drive, 20 minutes on the clock. Hmmm, there's a McDonald's right next to the terminal, sure could use a Coke and some fries, PC-Going to eat...now time to go home...PC-Going home

I think in some peoples cases the need to be creative exists.
