Did you see where the man pays 65cpm on the hub, w2? That would be a significant raise for me.
Really, it's about honesty and apparently he was being honest.77fib77 and Keepforgettingmypassword Thank this. -
We still have this notion, if you have an aero truck when fuel is high that works to your advantage. If you have a hood or whatever you call them, those are the people who are losing out.
As far as rates overall, well, they're just going to go up and down.
I wonder if rates are down year over year (as opposed to month over month?) -
For 1099 I'd expect 90cpm or something. You're covering for his unwillingness to cover unemployment insurance and his side of employment taxes. I'm W2 and getting 63.5cpm +5cpm safety bonus. You're getting screwed hard.CamryXSE and PumpkinOvalHead Thank this.

My question was to you.
What someone else pays their drivers has nothing to do with my question.
So once again, if you are paid by the mile what do you care what his fuel costs are, or even what the fuel surcharge may or may not be?Keepforgettingmypassword Thanks this. -
I believe it was stated in the OP that their boss was complaining about the price of fuel and thus having a hard time finding decent paying loads leading to OP staying home off work.ZVar Thanks this.

Is your boss leased to anybody?
-
His boss may be having a hard time finding loads that he feels pay enough for existing conditions. That doesn’t make him a liar.
And let’s say he wasn’t telling the driver the truth, if he still had the loads booked wouldn’t he need the driver to move them?
I don’t understand what the problem is.
If the op doesn’t feel he is getting paid enough by the mile, he is the only one to blame.
He agreed to the .60 cpm and the 1099 deal. -
Your a commodity. Your job is to get paid for all the work U do. His job is to get all the work out of u he can. Fair trade.
bigguns and Keepforgettingmypassword Thank this. -
Maybe, but the fact he's proven to be a liar (at the very least to the IRS) by paying an employee on a 1099 does, in fact, make him a liar.Tb0n3 Thanks this.
