Hard to find $0.50? You're not looking. (Our pay is performance-based, $0.55/0.59/0.65, depending on how many miles driven that week).

Indeed. Too many drivers can't see the bigger picture. More profits = more pay for the drivers. More expenses = less pay for the drivers. Look at it as a business whether Company, LO or OO.

Indeed they are. Find a company that not only pays detention, but one that pays it whether they are reimbursed for it or not. That's a company that takes care of the drivers.

Here's some interesting numbers. In 2019/2020, the average advertised wage for OTR was $75k, yet according to the BLS, the average pay was in the neighborhood of $47k. I have been seeing a lot more advertisements claiming 6-figures nowadays, but the numbers don't add up. Many of the carriers are lying to get drivers in the door, that's why the average annual turnover rate is 97% nationwide. Add those questions to your research of a company... What was their turnover last year? Over the last 5 years? If its not below 40%, they aren't where you want to be. No company will be at 0%, as drivers are forever retiring, becoming medically disqualified, or have family issues that arise requiring them to remain at home, so don't shy away from a company with 35% turnover. Just walk away from those over 50% (and run from those over 100%).
