I have a seven and a half hour route from 4 p.m. to 11:30 at night going from Cleveland to Columbus and back. About 1300 a week and lots of time and morning and early afternoon to get stuff done and weekends off. Not getting rich but it's not bad

The pay was really average at $1350-$1450 a week for a linehaul run I do. Basically I show up and pick up an empty pup. Drive 29 miles to drop. Drop empty and pick up loaded pup.

Drive 29 miles back to where I started. Build a set of doubles. Drive 180 miles to NC terminal. Drop both pups. Sleep an hour and 30-45 minutes. Wake up and take one pup back 181 miles to where I started my day. Total miles a day is 419.

Most miles a week to average $1350 gross is 2211. To gross $1450 is 2327 miles a week. No drop N hook pay at all.

When I first saw no drop N hook pay for building sets like freight pays I was thinking #### I’m being screwed. But Fedex ground has many options to make more money. Including if you choose you can get routes working 38 hours a week.

They’ve offered me a gig making $1275 a week working 38 hours a week with a contractor. I turned it down because I wanted more income. But the flexibility if you want really low hours is there and they don’t force you.

So $1350-$1450 a week was really good especially since I do the same route everyday. No seniority or anything. Sleeper truck and no drivers get better loads than me unlike when I was at U.S Xpress. And weekends off. It’s unreal how lucky I got with this contractor. Really good company. Good health insurance and 401K.

What’s really good is the spots you can do. This makes up for the missed Drop N Hook pay. I have one spot that I do everyday for Medline that pays $65.40 cents for 40 minutes of work.

So If I do my 419 mile run a day I make 251+65.40 totalling 316.4 a day. My contractor adds supplemental pay on top of that for low miles so I make $340 a day.

The most hours I work a week is 55-57 hours making $1700 gross a week.

I’ve not even started doing my performance bonus which is Oct, Nov, Dec which I’ll make even more on top of the yearly bonus. It’s looking like I’ll make 85-88K this year I just can’t be sure.

There are different spots you can do and they all pay different. I could even add another spot but I don’t want to work 13 hours a day. Seriously don’t sleep on these contractors! Best part no on the road like Estes. Saia, and a couple of more. You make less but home everyday.

And if you want options available for 40 hour work weeks still making 60K+

Pick up FedEx trailers at 2am drive to Kimball NE, swap trailers and switch drivers then drive back to SLC. Get there around 10pm or so wait to 2am and do it again.

They have showers at the yard.

They will do second chances so they will work with people who have had an accident.

My wife and I did this for a week and she decided it was not for her. It's not a easy run but the pay wasn't bad. Back and forth on 80 then down Parlays Canyon was to much for her.

@Chinatown this would be good for someone who needed a second chance in the SLC area or someone who wanted to get into doubles.

I know this is an old post. Any idea if this run is still around. Sounds perfect for me.

I believe they are. If they want you to do team to NE and back it would be a good run since winter is about over.

I rode with a guy named John. I felt comfortable with him driving. He lives out of the truck but everything is kept clean and tidy.

I have issues with smokers but other than that I don't care who i'm co-driving with. I'm easy to get along with.
