Go to a Freightliner dealer and buy original parts based on your engine serial number

Are you doing the rebuild yourself or will a shop be doing it? If a shop is going the work might want to talk to them before doing anything .
Boondock, Mohtrucker and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Price the DD kit through Freightliner. Usually can get better prices from a Truck Dealer. Helps to have an account set up. Cash account, no credit needed. Qualifies you for discounts. Shop around. Be sure to add the price for bearings. Detroit kits don’t come with bearings. They’re about $300 extra, plus a core charge. Then check prices on Mahle, aftermarket and FP Diesel. M&D Distributers in Houston is a good source. So is Frontier in Flint Mi. and LTC Truck parts in Troy Mi. Both kits are good. The Mahle is probably the best IMO, since they make the OEM pistons for Detroit, and also now own Clevite Bearing. Can’t get much better. Stick with DD oem reman head. Check around, don’t forget any shipping charges. M&D has free shipping to a non residential Business address.
