But just drive across the state line to an adjoining state and see what a DOT officer says about your log books last 7 days. GA law don't matter in FL, AL, SC, or TN.

they can say what they want. its not enforcable if the HOS are suspended for GA and you decide to use it legally in GA, you arent doing anything illegal.
-
They can certainly say something if you're over your 70, or 14/11 on that day.
As to citing you for the "violations" which occured soley in GA - it's a grey area with reasonable arguments on either side. In my opinion, the time it would take to fight the citation isn't worth it for interstate carriers.
Local port drayage is a different story, but even then, it's not going to solve anything. -
if you are exempt from HOS , then those hours that you spent while diriving/working under the exemptions do not apply to your HOS. i went thru this last year while running HOS exempt trailers for the fire crews in montana/idaho/washington.. and mixing in regular loads as well..all HOS exempt loads were logged as such and didnt contribute to my 11/14/70 clock because they are EXEMPT FROM HOS... so with that said.. if you are EXEMPT FROM HOS.. how could they write you a violation for being over hours, when you are EXEMPT FROM HOS?

All compensated work must be logged on line 4. All our new hires have to fill out a form declaring the hours they worked in the last 8 days. It doesn't matter that the work is not covered under 395, once a driver is operating under 395, they must comply with all parts, so any violation of the 70 will probably hold up in court.
Keep in mind the officer doesn't have to be right to write the ticket/warning and then the driver has to go to court to challenge it. Win, lose, or draw that's a day of work lost.
You should see some of the b.s. citations our drivers get. My personal favorite is the driver who was cited for rust jacking on his tractor drives 1 week after his avi/pm where they did a six wheel brake job. No way was there rust on the brakes, and we got the citation tossed, but it took time and effort. So I don't think most carriers that are based out of GA are going to take "advantage " of Kemps hos suspension. More risk than reward. -
While true, GA can't suspend federal HOS. They can only suspend HOS for those in the sate of GA.
Think of it like running cross border to Canada. You can be 100% legal to run in Canada (or US) and as soon as you cross the border you are now out of compliance and can be given a citation even though you were 100% in compliance 1 mile ago.
So yes, Alabama can give you a citation for HOS violations even though what you did in GA was legal, it's still not in Alabama.gentleroger Thanks this. -
I can't make any sense out of relaxing HOS for thirty days. Or gas tax for thirty days, unless he is just another desperate politician looking to get re elected. It appears Gov Kemp is in the race of his life. Don't care what side of the isle your on. If only they cared about what matters. Not when they are getting ready to be trashed in the polls.
Last week Ga dot was having a good ole time with roadsides between Brunswick and Savannah on 95. Sounds like a disconnected and desperate politician to me. Most of them are.Sirscrapntruckalot Thanks this. -
Why would anyone want to run past the Federal Regulations, they screwed the whole thing up with ELOGS now let them eat it if they can't get food or water. Oh by the way don't forget to vote for Biden and his bunch of clowns again.
-
We can agree to disagree . i have talked to multiple dot officers in multiple states about this and they all say differently than you are saying.
-
Absolute truth - and it applies to so much more than just the economy.
