I'm impressed with the high quality advice given by all of the posters who replied to you.
All of them. Honest people wishing well for a total stranger.
Would you find the wisdom to listen, understand and follow their advice?
    That's up to you.

Yep. Buy a restaurant, stock it full of food, put out the Open sign, and the money should just roll in. Correct?

“Hey, I just bought a restaurant and a truckload of food. How do I learn how to cook? What kind of food should I make? I’ve been watching YouTube cooking videos, but this seems so much tougher.”

    Next post
“I need help! The food is changing colors and smelling. How do you turn the freezer and cooler on? If the bread has mold on it, can I scrape the mold off and use it? The chicken really smells awful and the steaks have turned gray.”

“Hey! This inspector person came by and failed me. Told me that I have to shut down. What do I do? I’ve been in business for a month, zero customers and now this??? I need help!”

See the above post about restaurant

would you advise someone to borrow $100k and open a restaurant if they had never worked in one before ?

would you advise someone to borrow $100k and open a nail salon if they had never worked in one and knew absolutely nothing about the business or how to do nails ?

    maybe a tire store ?
Tires are round and black , buy low sell for a profit . Can’t be that hard can it ?

We all understand you wanting to own your own truck . and we want to see you succeed at doing so .
I owned my own rig .I Did a lot of the Maint and repairs too

can you do any maintenance and repairs ?
Minor stuff like replacing lights and troubleshooting electrical problems ?
Reading the computer codes and replacing sensors ?
    Repairing broken air lines ?

time is money to an owner op
If the wheels ain’t turning you’re not making any money .

I was a pretty decent shade tree mechanic , when I bought my rig I kept spare parts like gladhands and pigtails and brake cans , air lines and fittings and even a spare Mirrors

the insurance is , as mentioned , $20k a year , and most want a large down payment . the insurance and truck payment don’t stop just because your rig in broke down and in the shop for nine weeks waiting on a part from China .

do you know which lanes have good paying freight?

trust the advice here . You came and asked for it , so trust it .
Everyone is telling you to get some experience first . The first year you will be plenty busy just learning how to drive and handle situations safely and not get into any accidents

Not to keep piling it on, but I do want to add one more thing.

It will cost to learn the business. Period. There is no shortcut to this. There are two ways to learn. One is throwing money as an O/O or L/O at it until you quit or start getting more back than you throw at it. Two is spending time making money and learning as a company driver.
If you have the spare money to pay for your learning sure you can go that way, but why not save that money, make some as a company driver while learning the industry?

Thank you to everyone for putting in the time to answer my questions. I am going to take your advice and do the company driver thing for the time being and learn the ropes that way. Maybe later on down the road I can get my own authority and buy a long hood classic. Thanks again..

1-3 years it's not that long.
And Mr. @Chinatown can help with picking up a carrier that will make you be good at what you are doing.
You need to decided which kind of freight you want to start moving. And which area to move it to.
My personal choice is to start with dry van freight. Once you master it, you can go up to specialized.
Either flatbed, auto hauler, oversized which is a lot of outside work.
Or reefer, tanker, hazmat or not, bulk or oilfield.
The sky is the limit. You are just limited by the oxygen supply.

USA Truck has a program for drivers, after 6 mos., can choose the loads and run where you want to.
Probably learn a lot from a benefit like that.
This company hires new cdl school grads.
