You have a skillset that is highly desired in the U.S. If you have the quid, why not make a go of it?

If your serious about moving to the USA there are really only two options from a purely business point of view, there are a couple of other options which I'll mention later. Option #1 Is start your own transport company or purchase an existing company up under the E2 Treaty trader agreement you could then apply for an E2 visa I'm fairly sure the UK does qualify as a Treaty Trader country to qualify for the E2 apart from being from a treaty trader country your investment needs to what is considered "an at risk investment" meaning a substantial investment the good news is there is no stipulated amount however amounts of less than < $250 000 will come under more scrutiny then investments greater than > $250 000. If you are granted the E2 visa you could stay in the US indefinitely provided you continue to manage you own company, if at any stage you sold the business you would be required to depart the US. ( This is not an immigration visa) Option #2 Invest around $1 000 000 in your own company this would qualify you for the EB -5 investment green card, you would be granted initially a conditional green card based on you creating at least 10 new permanent jobs for US citizens or LPR over a 2 year period. Just before the 2 year conditional green card expires you can apply to have those conditions removed if you have created 10 new permanent jobs you will be granted an unconditional green card and be able to legally remain in the US, basically you are buying your own green card.
You can as some have suggested get a H2B work visa these are extremely difficult to get but not impossible I obtained one back in 2005, as did a few other Aussies, Kiwis, Brits, and a few Irishmen. However the H2b is of a temporary need only issued for employers based on a seasonal need Summer and Winter camps often utilize this option for casual workers in Summer holidays and for the Winter Snow season. The H2b is usually only valid for about 8 months however employers can request an extension for another 8 months for a maximum of 3 years after this you would also be required to depart the USA unless you have received a Employment based green card in the duration. One other option is if you have a relative who is a US citizen they can also sponsor you by filing USCIS form I - 130, petition for alien relative, most popular is a spouse, followed by a son/daughter, father/ mother, and brother/sister. -
The difficulty is getting a visa that allows you to work in the US. EVERY trucking company is hiring, but I don't think truck driver is a job the USA considers importing foreign labor to fill, despite many parts of the USA being filled with immigrant labor do the job. Truck prices are at an all-time high and the rates paid for moving freight have fallen drastically in the last 3 months. It was near all-time highs until maybe Feb 2022. Now freight rates are average to below long-term average.Truckerswifeee Thanks this.

I’ll trade passports with you, it’s too stupid here..Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.

Stick to driving the lorry’s, on the wrong side of the road. Freight volumes here in the US, is plummeting fast.

Buying a truck and MC number might be the easiest way .
lots of immigrants from India and the Middle East buy or lease gas stations and motels so they can bypass the visa system and bring their entire family as well .
Easiest thing is to go to Canada , and Canadian drivers and pick up OR deliver in the states , they just can’t do BOTH on the same border crossing trip . -
