Depends on rubber to, I’d even go 3.70s If you were going with 24.5s, up over 90k on my tall 22.5s sometimes I wish I was slightly lower then 3.55 trying to back up or such, a 2. Something ratio is completely useless

Don't ever buy a truck that is 6x2. Even if you see no snow or mud you can still get hung on driveways or curbs without it

I have a dd13 at 455hp and dt12 auto trans, 2.64 rears, also super singles and 246 wheelbase I believe. Only thing I would change is the trans, I haven’t had problems out of the auto, but it acts funky going up or down mountains sometimes. Never gotten stuck but I’ve had to lock the rears a few times.

I wish the mega carriers in this business would take this to heart. Have had my share of getting stuck with those 6x2s

I'd hate to be driving that thing through denied roads. Not only would it beat the crap outta you but, you're almost guaranteed to get stuck on a rainy day

I ran a 6X2 tag for over 400K miles and never got stuck once. But, I paid attention to what I was doing and have a fair bit of common sense.

That's awesome but, doesn't change the fact that 6x2 axle configurations weren't designed for off highway applications especially on unpaved roads. You can be smart as Einstein and it still wouldn't matter because those trucks aren't built for that type of work.

The OP is speccing for flatbed which entails some off-highway travel. Hitting roads that in some cases aren't for road spec trucks hence why I said 6x2 is setting yourself up for some ####.

In 4yrs of flatbed, I never encountered off-highway travel.
