    My speedometer's max is 85mph.
Not sure how fast the truck goes.

I wonder what they're smoking in their office.

Like, they pretend to care about ecology, mandating exhaust filters and what not, and then try to implement a rule that would put a lot more trucks on the road, thus killing any effect there could be.

    That's not fair!!!
You are using thought, reason and logic to counter an idea a government official produced.

    Today's email from OOIDA:

FMCSA is considering a rule that would mandate speed limiters on commerical trucks. The latest proposal seeks additional information about whether CMVs over 26,000 pounds equipped with an electric engine control unit should be restricted to certain speeds. Previous proposals have suggested 60, 65, or 68 MPH.

OOIDA encourages you to submit comments on FMCSA’s speed limiter notice. We unequivocally oppose any action that would mandate speed limiters. Studies and research have proven that traffic is safest when all vehicles travel at the same relative speed. Limiting trucks to speeds below the flow of traffic increases interactions between vehicles and will lead to more crashes. Any efforts to mandate speed limiters will take more control out of the driver’s hands and penalize small businesses. Use the links below to tell FMCSA why Speed Limiters do not improve highway safety!

The public comment period is open until Friday, June 3rd. Please respond directly to this email if you have any questions regarding Speed Limiters. Thank you!

Oh, you think the CEO's of the largest carriers are stupid? They're a lot of things but stupid isn't one of them. The goal is to kill off smaller competitors to give themselves a larger market share as well as more control over the industry and I'd say they've done an exceptional job at it much to my aggrevation.

You can sign my petition to oppose this.

Yep, just saw the petition in another thread. Will subscribe. ;)

I tried to point at politicians and how these geniuses contradict their own agenda, but yeah. If this proposition gets through (which I hope never happens), it'll make even more O/O's hang their keys and we all know who'll benefit from that.
