Morning Ms. Pony. Thanks for the tip you gave me on PM. Fortunately the financing got approved on this truck, so I'll go with this one.
There's a bunch of pics in Inventory section of boydtruckcenter.com -
I'm right across the interstate at the old Sinclair truck stop.
-
Ugh!!! It's her again....
-
Must be more then 1 QT in Tulsa with parking!
-
Yeah, I think so. The QT I'm talking about is at the west end of town.
-
Nice truck, Katz. Looks great! Good luck.
-
Katz when you get home fax all your stuff to Mercer even the pics...also on the application they will want that in you own handwriting I originally typed it and they said it looks nice but we need it in handwriting...lol go figure.....
-
You can email the digital pics to your recruiter.

Thanks everyone. Redd, sorry I didn't get to meet you. We had to head to Dallas right after I posted my last post.
I got the truck. It is running great, and I love 13 speed. I'm on my way home. Sitting at Love's in Coachella (Indio), CA.
Story time...
Paccar approved financing my truck. Many others turned me down for one or more of the following reasons:
1) I'm a first time buyer
2) I don't own a house
3) I'm from California (???, but somehow, I don't blame them)
The problem - Paccar doesn't want to fund this small mom&pop dealership directly. The dealer owner Bryan Boyd has a friend who's a financing manager at Rush Peterbilt in Dallas. The truck would be sold to Rush Pete, and they'd sell it to me. The middle man wants $1250. Uggghhh, but what was I gonna do? Considering all other trucks I checked out in the same price range, it's still a good deal. I agreed to it. They said they can overnight all documents, and I could drive away by Thursday afternoon. I just needed to have VIN# on my insurance changed, and wire transfer the downpayment.
Another problem - Wells Fargo, whom I have my primary checking account with, doesn't do wire transfer over telephone. Fine, where's the nearest WF branch? There's none in Oklahoma... In Dallas area, you can shoot a gun blindfolded and not miss a WF branch.
So Bryan, my co-driver for the trip Bruce, and I headed down to Rush Pete. Bryan bought us steak dinner at Texas Land & Cattle. Very good Ribeye, but I wish they had something bigger than 14 oz meat. Personally, I'd much rather have a 20+oz medium grade Ribeye cooked to perfect medium rare, than a 6 oz top notch filet mignon. Quantity is just as important, IMO. I want to get full eating a steak, not side dishes.
Anyways, got up on Thursday morning, we went to get a cashier's check at a nearby WF branch, showed up at Rush Pete at 9:30AM. We went over the paperwork, making sure there's nothing funny I don't want to agree on. Everything looked reasonable.
I signed my life away, got the temp TX plate, thanked Bryan and shook his hand, and we got on the road at 11:45AM.
After taking a break in Odessa, Bruce decided to head straight home. He doesn't have a cell phone, and I took my phone away after he used up most of my minutes talking to his girlfriend all week. That may have had something to do with his decision. I gave him gas and food money and sent him home. He's a nice enough guy and I appreciate his help, but we were probably getting a bit tired of each other. I gave him $300, as I thought he was hurting for money. He ended up using every bit of it gambling at casinos. It's none of my business how he uses his money, but still...
I had been researching on this forum whether I need temp permits or not in each state I'd drive through. I never found any definitive answer, until I got to NM. $12 for the permit.
No big deal, or so I thought until I got to AZ scale house. They wanted $128!! Unbelievable. I was going to use my plastic card, so that I can dispute it later in case I find out that I was getting hosed. Conveniently for them, their electricity was cut off at the moment due to a passing storm. I reluctantly forked over my cash, and I kept going.
Had a lunch in Phoenix with my buddy Brian. He told me I-40 got closed in Flagstaff due to snow. I guess 400-mile detour going to Dallas worked out OK after all.
I figured the first CA scale house on I-10 would be closed on Friday night, so I stopped at Pilot in Quartzsite to pick up a permit. They had a trip permit and a fuel permit. Not sure which one I need. NM DOT officer gave me a trip permit, so I got a trip permit. I'll find out if I got the right one when I cross the scale in Banning. Maybe I should have just picked up both. I should get home early this afternoon, then I gotta go pick up my trailer in Bay area.
I e-mailed Chris the pics of the truck, and pics of my trailer which I pulled from the online ad. He scheduled my orientation on Feb 1st. I got a couple of days to get ready, and off to Louisville. It'll be a busy week!
P.S. Bryan and the crew (his son Josh and wife Nancy) at Boyd Truck Center were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. If I decide to buy another truck to get my own fleet going down the road, I wouldn't hesitate to go back there.Last edited: Jan 23, 2010
