Central Refrigerated Truck Stop

from what i understand he bought his own truck and went back on the road as a true owner operator.and i also hear hot rod jeff that did the upgrades in wvc also left.

 

Oh come on! Little ice, snow, fog, wind, oh lots of wind and more ice. Thats in the flat stretches. Then there are the mountains. Not trying to scare you too much, but I would rather put up with these than drive New England..esp NYC or Boston

 

are there any dedicated runs in the western states with central? i am located in central oregon, wud that create a problem for getting home time?

 

i chose central cause when i also started they pay was good and i got to train with jj but soon after the pay started to fall and bonunes started to be taken away but i was fortuneite enough to get put on a dedicated fleet that keeps me close to home and gets me home quite often as one of the main kraft shiping facilities is only 7 mi from the house. another reason i am still here is the pay on the dedicated is much higher than the reg over the road fleets. and once my debt for the school is paid off im gone also cause i cant afford to pay back the entire cost of the school if i were to quit before the end of my contract. if you stay a year you only pay back 1200 of the 3000 owed if you quit before the end of the contract you owe the entire 3000 to be paid back immeditally.

 

there is the super seven fleet that only runs the western states and the coors fleet. but you have to drive over the road for 6 mo to get on these fleets with no accidents safety violations or late loads ever. then if theres room on the fleet you could get on. theres also the dole foods fleet but im not sure if they hire out of oregon.

 

Come on in. There are so many variables that enter into the mix that it isn't possible to "cookie cutter" an answer for everyone's situation. That platitude stated. The thing that has most disappointed me is the attitude towards the Driver from all sides. The Company offers an entry level plan, but with a price. OK then you start to drive 1) Always be on time 2) Always be safe 3) Be Professional ....simple so far. Then the variables hit the fan....You receive impossible tasking, but can't refuse. IE out of order stops or too close together timewise to even think you can complete. But if you can skip all your meals, take very quick plumbing checks and no traffic...maybe.

But wait. Stuff breaks. You have to fuel...at their stops...at their levels. Then you arrive at the customer. When does the clock begin? At the gate..NO. When shipping receives the paperwork. Don't arrive earlier than 1 hour prior (make sure you're operating in the correct time zone). Hopefully not a big line at the gate. Get ALL the pertinent info re procedures...cb channel, tandems, door, trailer doors, chocks, in the cab, tractor away from trailer, brake lines removed, lock out devices etc etc etc.
Does the shipper get you off as scheduled?.The dream....Pre-loaded to a 99..NO reality...Live load... multiple stop with numerous customer related stipulations. This is beginning to sound like a Board Game. The game of Truck Driving! Probably already invented. Cool. With the economy and the DOT you could have different versions continuously!
To you veterans of this game..this is old news. It has been my biggest disappointment thus far. As an experienced individual in way too many arenas and a lover of KISS principle and Common sense this will continue to be frustrating.
For you whannabees come on in, but be ready.

 

That I believe comes under impossible tasking. This is regarding to all on time with no violations due to scheduling vs. clock

 

i dont know if you know this or not but it will be atleast 3 weeks before you see your 1st check. as you do not get paid while in school and your first check comes after you have been on your trainers truck for a week. but i would allot about 100 min to eat on each week and buy personal items youll need also remimber being new you wont have shower credits so showers at the truck stop gonna run 10 bucks a pop. thats 70 a week if you like to shower everyday
