Hi all! I joined the Truckers' Trucking Forum because of all the other forums I have looked at this is by far the biggest, best, and most diverse, experienced and non experienced individuals who really have a passion for the trucking industry and the people in it. So that is why I am going to hang out here during my new career change into the trucking industry.

I was at the pinnacle of my career as project manager for a large commercial construction firm and loved my position, career, and work. Then the downturn in economy, construction projects slowed, then halted. I was senior Project Manager earning a healthy salary and consequently laid off my position 3 months ago. One of my dreams early in life was to be an OTR driver. I graduated from College and went another route. Now that road has come to an end so destiny is calling! I graduated from Roadmaster In Columbus, Ohio Dec.24 2009. Got my CDL A license with haz-mat,tanker, doubles and triples endorsements. Sooooo... now I'm investigating companies. Stevens looks like they have the best training. The way I see it is a driver needs the best training out there and feel safe and confident in his/her ability to operate a tractor trailer in a safe and efficient manner. Stevens seems to focus on those key points in training. After the first year I do not know how they stack up with other companies. If anyone has any feedback please feel free to jump in!

Hey KCJ! There are several "company" threads going now in the forum in which the students, trainees, drivers go back and forth with each other through posts. Prime comes to mind, as does Watkins Shepard. There are probably others but I can't think of them just now. There's a Mercer contingent out there too. I follow the Prime and WS thread from the outside looking in (lurking) and I'm really impressed with the comraderie these guys/gals enjoy. Just a thought for you!
