I’ve been exempt for 26 yrs. Never needed a notarized waiver.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

It is an exemption waiver, it is to prove you don't need it. I technically don't, but it isn't bad to have when you have a lot of irons in the fire and you are the sole contributor to the household.Another Canadian driver and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Everyone’s numbers are different. None of the examples in the original post makes sense to me. Different type of operation I guess. There’s hypothetical theories. Then there’s reality. Reality is the only thing that matters. Expecting another Business to stop Operating, so you can charge more for your services, isn’t how it works in reality.
Rubber duck kw, Oxbow, bumper Jack and 1 other person Thank this. -
So for $300 a yr. you buy workman’s comp? Must be a private policy in lieu of Standard Workman’s comp policy. Who gets the $300? How much will it pay if you’re injured on the Job. I might just be interested in such a deal.Oxbow, bumper Jack and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

I won't disagree that numbers vary, I just used the average for the last two years I have done HS, been in a big truck longer. Numbers don't lie when you put them in the right formulas no matter what. The issue isn't how much does it cost to operate, it's how much is my time worth? I'm a little confused on the last part of your reply. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by it or what you are referring to. I work in the shop when the truck is home or a load doesn't tickle my wallet in the right way and I drive when the money makes sense. As businesses fail, competition decreases which usually ends up with a slight bump in prices unless someone is intentionally undercutting the market. Brokers competing over shippers is a race to the bottom, but I bet they nearly always get their cut. I'm not saying it is the brokers fault, but all of us as a group in the industry really need to put pen to paper so everybody can enjoy life. Our price we charge as carriers should be the cost that the shipper would incur if they had to buy a truck and hire a driver to do it themselves. That's the only price we should have to beat. As a trucking company, we have resources to lower our costs over what a small shipper would.Last edited: May 31, 2022

That is only for the trucking side, my shop costs much, much more. I pay my shop to work on my truck (I'm the mechanic). I don't know the amount off hand as majority of my income goes to the shop, it is a standard policy that requires yearly audits from both companies. I know that it is set by the state. My agent would know much more.
The state sets the rate, I do know I'm not covered much for the trucking side as my truck spends A LOT of money in the shop, which is where majority of my trucking money goes so this is where the majority of my income comes from and where most of my policy is wrote.Last edited: May 31, 2022
