    Hmmmm....by the looks of that hose, someone has not been doing their inspection duties properly. 3 month, 6 month, annual should have noted the condition of that hose before it went bad. That's pretty gnarly looking for a braided steel hose. Just sayin'

    I've only been at it a month lol....not quite sure how you would check that on a normal basis though without getting under from the back of the sleeper area and crawling all the way to the front area of the truck. That's what the mechanic had to do.

    That's my point. It's a mechanic inspection that is done, DOT style. Most companies have an inspection interval, since most company drivers are NOT qualified mechanics, so aside from the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) that you do, the company usually has a mechanic do DOT inspections during certain intervals of the year, primarily the Annual, but most places I've driven they have more frequent inspections as well, which is what I was referring to. :)

Granted now I know where another leak cam come from for future reference :biggrin_25525: I was thinking that if you were talking about me then I was gonna say well apparently I have no clue what I need to be checking :biggrin_255:

    @CAXPT

    The other funny thing is this morning is seemed like an awfully long time for the air to build up (granted it has been sitting pretty much since Friday morning), but I've mentioned it before because it seemed like an abnormal about of time for the air to build. Even our 1996 KW in school didn't take this long.....the mechanic this morning just told me it was because my RPM's weren't high enough (you know, to build the pressure quicker)........

    If that hose got damaged by being hit by something, it's because it looks, to me, like it was already on the road to failure. That braiding is broken and thinning out along with what looks like growth on it. Possible mold from the actual air discharging in the area of the hose. Either way, it's something that happens...so good catch and save before it locked up. :)
    Getting out of here early tonight...see if I can emulate a day person tomorrow. :)

    Thanks. All I can say is glad I got it stopped too. Don't need more damage that what was already like tires dragging from the spring brakes kicking on :) That would suck! Safe travels, my friend :) I'm off to bed. Out of hours and been up since 6 a.m. Utah time :biggrin_25518:

    $791.33 after everything was said and done. And it was just a temporary fix. Jeez. At least it's holding air and working according to trainer since I'm off the clock
