I've got a 2002 Columbia with a 12.7 that I'd like to swap a 14L in its place. I'm getting compression in the coolant system, enough it split both end tanks on the radiator, the oil fill tube had the cap pushed up, oil sprayed the underside of the hood. Since I know the 12.7 has to come apart to diagnose the problem, I'd like to get a 14L block and swap a ddec IV head on it. I've heard stories of people doing that, does the older head fit the ddec V block? Mileage on the 12.7 is unknown, previous owner swapped a junk yard block in. It has blow by and uses several gallons of oil between oil changes, since it will cost me either way, I'd rather spend the money building something I want.

they use the same head gasket so it will bolt on probably have to run a 5 cam since the front structure is way different not !00% sure what else might be needed

This is basically it but don't use the ddec 5 cam. Go to a machine shop and have them make you an adapter to run a ddec 4 cam. The fives use retardedd timing for the egr...and you don't want that if you want efficiency

DDGUY reached out to me shortly after I posted the original message. I will be getting an engine from him in the near future. I have a few other fires that need to be put out first. W.W.Williams in Phoenix worked on my 2015 freightliner cascadia. They diagnosed the truck last October as having a bad cpc module. After 8 months I provided my own cpc from another truck that has the 1 box of death codes, I made 1 runner from the 2 broken trucks. When I got my truck returned, Williams gave me the wrong cpc, I didn't catch it until after it was repaired and wouldn't take programming. I'm tempted to swap something else in place of the DD15 cause I'm tired of making payments on a truck that hasn't been able to be driven since last year. I'd never recommend that place to anyone, they don't lock the trucks when they put them out back. My dash was completely torn apart, instrument cluster was in the sleeper, switches missing by the cupholders, trim ripped out on the passenger side, broken below the fuse panel, the fuse panel was pulled out too. Truck had the look of being vandalized for anything of value.
