Been to that Cluster Tyson in Carthage. Load was 16hours past the DLD, and Tyson refused to change the delivery time in Ogden Utah. I left at 4am, ran hard to Amarillo, and handed it off to a team to make Utah, and this was all in the summer. I will NOT accept a load for that place again.

That Tyson plant in Carthage is one of those areas where Stevens is dropping the ball. Given its proximity to the yard there is NO REASON to not have 1-2 trailers there so that this can be drop and hook op instead of having folks wait around for a day. I sat there for over a day with my trainer as well, it's just wasteful.
-
You're right, they could afford to have 5-10 empty trailers so its all drop and hook. But Ahhhhh, that would be a logical thing to do, we are just drivers, remember?
Eventually the white shirt that gets the $80K salary will hear about you're idea and take credit for it.

The entire day after orientation was spent waiting for a trainer assignment. At 1600 I was finally assigned my trainer.
I made contact with him and he told me he would pick me up the next morning from the hotel. He is an O/O.
He picked me up on his way to deliver a load to Waco, TX.
Once that was dropped we immediately were dispatched a load for Victorville, CA.
Friday night was spent in the middle of nowhere (Ft. Stockton, TX). Saturday night was spent in Eherenburg, AZ.
So now I am sitting here in a Burger King in Victorville next to our drop point.
There were no empty trailers on the lot so now we sit and wait for further instructions from dispatch.
Overall, my experience has been what I expected with relatively few surprises. -
Glad to hear that you got your trainer! Was wondering if it happened!

Where are their schools? Their site mentions the school in Texas but also "several Stevens Driving Academy locations throughout the United States". Does anyone know where those schools are?
-
There's a school I went to in Keenesburg, CO just NE of Denver. It's not Stevens' school but they have a lot of their own trucks there and 90% of grads are headed to Stevens. The school is "Careers World Wide" and was a good place to go, you get what you need and they are pretty organized and have been doing it for years.
-
Me I went to a school of my choice, a PDTI certified school, paid for it myself, so that I was not beholden to a carrier, and then choose Stevens, as my choices were limited by where I live.KCJ Thanks this. -
