Are owner operators really "quiting"? I can't tell...

Everyone is still hanging there, but panic starts to spread.
I know bunch of people in 1099 companies in my area. People who have small fleets, gotta start dropping the drivers wages, who are used to make over $2000 per week, but everyone is afraid to be the first one to start lowering, so drivers don't jump the ship and leave owners hanging with truck payments.

    Same here...
A small fleet owner I know well is saying that there is an influx of drivers wanting to work. Mostly those who got their checks cut by 15-20% from what they used to make of around 75 c per mile, are looking for the same pay elsewhere. Drivers have no or little idea of what is going on with rates, they think they deserve their pay and that the cuts are not justified.

I know everyone is talking about flatbed still being strong and I would have agreed but for the last two days. Trying to head back east has been tough finding anything that pays. Looks like I'm going to be hopping, maybe Hardie Board idk.

Yeah I'm all the way west. Think this might be my last trip OTR for a while, start focusing on local higher rate short runs.

    Damnation!
Just checked DAT for posted loads in Chicago outbound radius of 100 miles for today - it's still before noon - 1070 posted vs 1700 posted trucks.

You know what that means, don't you?!
There are two trucks for every 1 posted load and that's outbound to anywhere.

    P.S.
Take into account that there are people like me that have not posted their trucks but are actively monitoring for something worth calling...

Same here in Longmont CO. I don't see the advantage of posting your truck as a truck driver.

If I was a company driver and the boss says he's cutting my pay I'd be long gone, especially on a 1099 deal...

I'm calling fake news on this Fox business segment anyhow. 99% of the owner operator that fail will end up in a company truck so they aren't quitting...

And I can't stand the fact that they brought up the 80,000 truckers short BS...
