Log book Violation

I don't get it. I can honestly say I've never had a problem with DOT inspections anywhere in the country, although I've never suffered through CA, NY, or NJ. Just been lucky, I guess. Heck, one inspection in PA consisted of the officer walking up to my truck (a beat up old Mack cabover out of the seventies), and asking ME if the truck had any problems. I told him it was running fine, he smiled and let me go on my merry way. So like I said, just lucky. Maybe it's just me?

When and if you inspect my truck you will have an associate in front of the truck and you will be on the running boards observing MY actions at the wheel and on the pedals. This truck is MY home and without a warrant YOU are not authorized to enter the vehicle (my home).This is why the trucking industry has become so abused, truckers have forgotten their rights as AMERICANS and the DOT has forgotten what they were hired to do in the first place, Safety inspection not Gov. collection agents. Next time you violate a truckers rights remember this; Your turn is coming. When they have beaten your family and destroyed your personal property, taken your means of providing away from you, are you going to say "thats ok, THEY'RE just doing they're job". Read OUR Constitution and Bill of Rights, maybe then you'll have a different outlook on your job. 2/75 RANGERS C Co HOOAH!!

 

I may be wrong about this but after many posters saying that the truck is there home i wonder if that is totally correct. My opinion is that it is my place of employment when i'm on duty and my home when on my break. So during a inspection it is a place of employment. Would like some opinions on that line of thinking.

 

7Bells guess you didn't read Mike MD's post. There is areas in the truck cab and sleeper berth that are subject to the FMSCR regulations. This gives the DOT and DOT certified LEO's the right to enter your truck and inspect those areas. Can they search every nook and cranny no. They would need your permisson or a search warrant to do that. If anything illegal is in plain sight game over for the driver.I willing to bet that Mike MD, DieselBear, and most of those who have the same job adjust their inspections whether consciously or not to the attitude of the driver ,except in the most obivous violations.

 

We recently got pulled over for a DOT inspection in texas,we had a awesome officer who was really nice and we had no problems...


Now on the living part,we consider our truck our home.Yes it is also our place of employment but we also live in our truck,as alot of truck drivers do.We do have a relatives place we stop at occasionally when we are in the dallas texas area and we might stay a day or 2,get a home cooked meal,relax,watch some tv etc but 99.9% the truck is our home.

Most case's you have to contact that driver's company before breaking a seal because if you break it without their permission it could your ### on the line. Just because you gave a new seal and noted everything down without obtaining permission from the company first is a no no for authorities. Other wise you could end up being the one paying for that load that was rejected because of a broken seal. You should know better than that.

 

Well, some people complain about an getting their new office with a view. Some have that and complain of not getting it with a fridge. Well, our office has a view, a fridge, a TV and even a bed to kick back in!

Now get over it! We failed to fight for our rights a long time ago and now they are gone! As you know, once the goobermint takes something away, THEY NEVER GIVE IT BACK!
