Class Action Lawsuit Against Concentra

I just went to concentra for a pre employment physical/ drug test. Everything was fine except due to my weight and neck size and being 36 I got a 3 month medical card and have to take a sleep study. I’ve always had a 2 year card so this is a big wtf. Not sure if I should go somewhere else and get another physical, lose some weight and do the sleep study and go back to concentra. Not really sure how this affects me getting the job or not with FedEx freight.

 

Hmmmmm....maybe it's that particular clinic. I'm overweight, I smoke, and I drink, and apparently my right knee has elasticity(shrugs). Got a 2 year card anyway with BP and neck size on the borderline. Mind you, I get great sleep!!!!

 

Unfortunately that's not going to happen. If you follow the ownership trail you will find they are owned by a multi billion dollar insurance company. Unfortunately I forgot the last ownership change when Aetna sold off. I think Humana but it could have changed again by now.

 

Okay I had to go look for an update. Yes Humana bought them in 2010 but then sold Concentra in 2015.

"Humana, the nation’s sixth largest health insurer by membership, on Monday said it sold its subsidiary Concentra for $1.05 billion in cash to MJ Acquisition Corp., a joint venture between long-term acute hospital operator Select Medical Holdings and the private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe."

So I stand corrected. Looks like they are no longer owned by an insurance company. But, they are not small potatoes.

 

They just did me this crap as well. I am now out of work with bills due until I have this study. Where do I sign up to join the lawsuit?

I’ve had the same experience at concentra. I told the “nurse” to use a bigger blood pressure cuff she didn’t and it read high. Argued with her for 15 minutes before I told her I’m an emt and check my bp 4 days a week and how bp works…nurse and doc got butthurt when I said that. Walked out with a 3 month card. Next day I got a 2 year card with no issues

 

The whole neck size thing at setting a criteria for who has sleep apnea is a bunch of crap. Athletes have huge necks from lifting weights. I know skinny women, 5’2” 100 pounds who have sleep apnea and I know guys who are 5’8” 300 pounds who do not. It’s BS. The whole BMI thing also is BS. Every single professional athlete who plays baseball and football and wrestles and lifts weights would be considered morbidly obese by their standards. You can’t apply blanket standards to the human population.

 

Woohoo! Excited about that first CDL job, off to Concentra to get that pre employment physical!
