Half million mile Freightshakers for $130,000

That trucks worth 50k the most IMO and that’s after verifying the driver didn’t idle the heck out of it. Half a million miles on an emissions truck is about the time the emissions acts up.

 

I looked at a 2018 Kenworth 680, they had 4, from a local fleet. They were in average condition, had APU'S on them.

These trucks were $165-70 NEW.
I didnt even make an offer when I got the above from the salesman.
Realistically, it's a $65k truck in a real market. I'm just going to do some work on my truck and keep running it unless a deal drops in my lap.

 

That’s what a lot of drivers are doing nowadays. Running their trucks into the ground while waiting for prices to drop.
Most of the Freightliners I see are still going around $130 to $160K with 400,000 miles on them. The cheapest trucks I’ve seen are Volvos with prices around $70-$90K with about the same amount of miles as the Freightliners.

 

Realistically, wouldn't it about $15K to $20K less in a real market, since the emissions systems start breaking down after about 500K miles? I've never had to deal with emissions repairs, but I hear they're not inexpensive at all. And you need a reputable shop to service them. If you're not going the deleted route, that is.

 

You could put $50,000 into repairing an emissions system on any truck and it still not work properly.
One week the def sensors go bad, the next month the EGR is clogged, and so on, and so forth.

 

Which is why it’s important to look at the truck’s history, if there’s one available. Also get a mechanic you can trust to look it over before you buy,even if you’re mechanically inclined.
