I'm going to close this thread to a couple of members who can't seem to quit bickering with each other. They're ruining it for the rest of the members.
The thread is still open for everyone else. -
It depends on who arranges the transportation. We move a couple of one of my customers cranes pretty regular. I’ve never had any problems. But I’m contracted to the hoister, and I hire the rest of the trucks needed from a couple of companies known to me. Three of us have been doing these moves together for years now. As far as the job or site is concerned they’re all the hoisters trucks. If there are problems, my customer has the same numbers in his phone the general contractor has in his. Problems disappear pretty quick. Now if you’re into a ####show that 3 or 4 freight pimps are involved in arranging the trucks for, expect the engineer on the crane to be losing his mind, and hold both hands over your ### and hope you get paid for time.cke, RedForeman, Feedman and 1 other person Thank this.

Last one I hauled was a upper section. It had hydraulic legs. You run them down and pick it up and drive out. Well it wouldn’t run because the fuel filter plugged up. Waited two hours for someone to fetch one. Got it changed. Started to run the legs down and blew a hydraulic hose. That was another 4 hour wait.

That was a circus alright. That pointed something out to me though. We can usually have my customers 18000 Manitowocs on their tracks moving in about 3 hours. Even when the inevitable has happened it hasn’t been that bad. Those cranes are set up on barges or in the middle of nowhere all the time. He has to support his machines himself because of where they work. One of the crew is a rigger/mechanic and the whole works of them travel in a crew cab service truck with a bunch of Manitowoc parts and 4/5ths of a hose shop in it. Not once had I ever thought of that. Right off I can think of lots of moves that could of been a nightmare if it weren’t for that truck and wrench bender being there already.cke, RedForeman, Siinman and 2 others Thank this.
