I guess that I will throw my two cents in. You are showing your smarts by getting more endorsements and trying to expand your choices. Follow what steps it takes to get the required endorsements and then start knocking on doors. With tanker and hazmat in hand you are one step ahead of alot of the drivers out there. You have almost 2 years, hopefully without job hopping. At this point you have nothing to loose and everything to gain. I wish you the best of luck!

don't forget the little guys I myself could not stand Halliburton they always seem to be crawling up folks rectal orifices over minor stuff but they do pay well but most jobs in the patch do

I have been doing this stuff for sometime and always prefer the little outfits to deal with much less attitude as the bigger the company the bigger the PITA they tend to be

OK, contacted EMSI-Shreveport cost of fingerprinting is $89.25. More than likely will be a $15.00 application fee for testing at the DMV along with $5.00 per endorsment plus the cost of making the new license with the endorsments.

Called TSA on my TWIC card. The are sending me another copy of the letter stating the information they need to complete my card and said I will not have to repay the $132.50 but want's me to make the 4+ hour drive down south to one of the port's to pick it up when it is ready which I keep explaining to them I can't do that I need it sent somewhere here in my hometown.

Also contacted our state vocational school, G.E.D. testing is $40 but have to figure out how to come up with the other money for book's to study up on sense getting a tax return isn't looking to promising because of that BS stimulus we got last year. Found out my parent's didn't even recieve the stimulus fund's but are still getting hit with having to pay it back. OH LAWD! Not sure how that's going to work.

Inbetween all this mess I've been trying to catch the truck's as they run up and down the road to see if I could catch some name's. CCS Energy, Basic Energy, Key Energy, MTH bulk which look's like an O/O company, mostly Pete's, an International and a Freightliner and another company with plain white unmarked trucks moving slury tanks. There's lot's of rig's steady moving around us and some within or even less than a 1/4 mile of each other all over northwestern Louisiana. I'm having difficulty trying to locate the smaller companies online. The bigger one's like I listed above weren't so easy to find either with the truck's hauling arse up and down the road. Survey crew even tapped off another big area of land right directly across the street from my house. I think they maybe getting ready to clear it and put in another rig there. Have to wait and see what happens.

All I have is time on my side now. Now I'm just hoping to get a tax return to put it all in action. Thank's a bunch for the info 2fuzy. Lot's of time under reefer and dry van so this is new to me. Steady wathing youtube vid's on oil rig work trying to get more knowledge on how the whole operation works.

I think you just got to go out and knock on some doors. I know of a few guys that are hauling fuel now after coming out of the oilfields from companies like Halliburton, Shlumberger, Weatherford....none with any OTR experience. I dont know how far u want to drive back and forth to work, but I was told that Quality Transport just over in Waskom was looking to do some hiring they haul bulk tanks, not sure if they do any oilfield work or what level of experience you need.

The Haz-Mat test is pretty much just common sense if I remember right... just remember SAFETY FIRST and you should do fine. And as far as the test for tanker its simple, again think SAFETY FIRST and you should and you should do fine on that as well...Good Luck to ya:biggrin_25525:

Hazmat is a LOT more than common sense . There are a lot of detailed questions about how much weight and products can be mixed , whether hooks can be used , if the material can be loaded on a metal floor and much , much more . You'd better get a manual and study it well .
Check the hazmat samples here and see how many you can answer using common sense .

Im speaking from my experience... Renewed my HM endorsement 3 times, never opened the book to study, lowest score was a 94. If you say its much more than common sense i'll take your word for it

TWIC card has to be picked up in person. They have to do the final processing on it an authenticate it to your fingerprints in order to complete the activation. I understand not wanting to make the drive. I had to drive 4 1/2 hrs each way to apply, then do it again to pick up the card. That's nearly 1000 miles of driving, plus two days you can't work, just to pick up the card. And some ports still require you to apply for additional cards even though you have this.

If you've been studying and taking some practice tests you'll do fine on the exams. Think about some of the people you see out there doing this job, if they can pass it you certainly can too.
