Is yard hostling a good job for someone that can't find a driving job?

C/O’s don’t make good money either. Could go be a iron worker. They make great money around the San Fran area or any other big city. Since you’re changing careers. You could do pole work (think power lines / encore) my brother in law makes 140k/yr with OT

 

Interesting... I have only run one employment screening through Coldliner Express, and I remember that one specifically because they claimed the driver defecated in the truck and abandoned it. We didn't hire the driver due to other issues uncovered in the verifications with other companies (ran a reefer out of fuel, hit stationary object, etc), but that one seemed a bit extreme and would have been overlooked had the other incidents on his record not disqualified him.

Oh, and running a yard spotter for $16? No way. Our spotters make $20 here in the low-cost-of-living Midwest and require no experience. $16 in California is less than a poverty wage.

Find a distribution center in your area.

Asset protection is the job you want.
Security.... Just check bags all day and make Id cards answer the phone.

But since you know how to drive a truck you are willing to be pulled out into the yard if it's a busy day.

Your pay should be 18-26 dollars depending where you live.

Stay the hell away from loading and unloading trailers.

I'm leaving my yard gig soon to return back into my sports role but it's a great job for extra weekend cash. You'll want to tear your hair out if you did it full time.

Also don't even consider it if they have swing doors at that pay rate. #### falling out and all the climbing up and down the ladder isn't worth it at all.
