Do you only need insurance to drive it back home while you get the truck leased on to a company or do you need working insurance now?

No just while you get the truck home and park it. When you get your real insurance then that one falls off

Yes and some companies also require workerscomp. Thats all you need if your hauling loads with their trailer. They cover the trailer and whatever loads your hauling.

I know this is an old post but was hoping I could get a little more information from it. I am also about to purchase a truck and will need to get it home, and this post helps me as far as what I need to get home. But I'm in the market for both a truck and a 48 flatbed trailer. After I purchase the truck and get it home, I will be applying for the IRP plates, which takes 2-3 weeks in illinois. Does that restrict me from being able to go pick up a trailer somewhere? Or can I just make sure truck says "not for hire", make sure I have insurance, and go get it?
