Driving a 2008 Cascadia with a freshly inframed 14L Detroit. The truck is great, a bit loud but the Series 60 is a great engine. It is mated to an Eaton-Fuller 13 speed ATM. I hate this transmission but with my bad left knee, I really shouldn't be driving a 13 speed manual.
So, can I retrofit a newer DT-12 ATM from Detroit to my older truck? Does anyone know how the transmission TCM communicates with the newer engines? Is it J1939 or some other Detroit specific software? I know that the trans should bolt in but getting the engine and transmission computers to talk to each other is my biggest concern.
Can it be done? Retrofit Detroit DT-12 to Eaton-Fuller 13 speed?

Do you already have the 12sp? If not, gonna be pricey.
Why do u not like the 13sp? If gearing issue, u can swap out the rear ends for a HEll of a lot less than a different tranny -

It really is a question of whether it can interface with a 60 series engine, I'm not sure that it can.
I have bad knees, and still never want to drive another automated transmission, the clutch is easy, and I float most of the time. Wish I had a 13 or 18, but I get it done with a 10.Big Road Skateboard Thanks this. -
