What's funny is that I have a new found patience....I used to be the guy stressing on why traffic isn't moving and always in the fast lane. Since I decided on this new career, things have changed for the better. I am much more patient on the road now, just take it as it comes..I know I'll get there sooner or later.

Thanks for the encouragement all....it helps a lot!

Warddrvr keep that patience because it will become a new game again when you are only getting paid by the mile, when the company gives you a late load, nature calls, or home bound 300 miles away with only 5 hours left on the log.

hi all I am wondering about the states ws hires in, I live in sc right smack on the border of ga and nc,justa few miles of wither line.I was wanting to get into the trucking ind due to no jobs in this area and unemployment is fixing to be gone. so something is better than nothing. Im 47 and ready for a change. And so far ws is the way to go for me if they will hire me where i am at. thanks for any help you all can give me. I saw on one web site they hire from nc and ga but was wondering since i am right on the line of either state.

Maybe one of the guys may know more, but I believe it's 100 miles from the terminal. There's one in Dalton, GA and one in Conover, NC I believe.....

As for my day today, it was the first day in the practice yard. Us newbs just got to walk around and around the yard truck, doing Pre-Trip practice...me and one of the guys from the other location class started working together, and by the time the instructor came up to us, we already had done 3 Pre-Trips each and had it down....we did the run thru with the instructor and he told us both we passed it.

I finally got to get into the truck behind the wheel right before lunch to start practicing the COLA-P and in cab inspection tests. Worked on that a while with my 2 partners until lunch.

After lunch, we kept running thru the in cab and brake parts and this afternoon, my instructor tested me on it, and I passed them as well. Now, only have to be able to do the same thing at the DMV office on Monday and I'll be good.

I have to say, I'm really tired for some reason. I did get up to be there an hour earlier than I have been for my classroom part, but the wind was really blowing and it is playing havoc with my allergies and my eyes feel like I've got sandpaper for eyelids...Gonna shower and rest for a while and hit the sack early to try it again tomorrow....talk to you all soon.

    Keep the Faith!

Many have said that and found out going to a CDL mill and MAYBE getting a job to be abused by a bottom feeder company isn't the "something " .
Despite all the good said about Watkins Shepard something must be wrong there . If they are constantly hiring it means drivers are constantly quitting .
