How do you do it?

Heavy haul and oversize is certainly challenging and not boring , but I’d bet the fuel haulers or cryo haulers make more money .

 

Wow, that’s interesting….. I always “heard” that oversize and heavy haul are the best paying gigs (just hard to get into ) out there

 

My sample size is very small, but based on the people I know that do it , it pays ok but nothing outstanding . Probabaly not enough to make up for the extra hassle of dealing with all the permits and curfews in every city and having to park 30 minutes before sunset etc .
having your permits cancelled for inclement weather etc


The guys I know that do it , do it for the challenge and lack of boredom , not because it pays extra .
But they also didn’t have any trouble getting hired by an oversize company,
Due to the nature of the cargo , The company requires a spotless credit criminal and driving record , so that eliminates a lot of drivers .
They joked that years ago they used to hire drivers and have them pass the background check, and now they have to find people who can pass the background check and then teach them how to drive .

 

Do you do LTL? My girlfriend is getting her CDL and she was thinking of starting with FedEx. Throw her to the wolves or nah?
