I upgraded today!! 2 weeks early because I'm that good! They gave me "Christine" that had too many problems to be fixed any time soon that they are going to remove me from her and wait till Monday to see if they can assign me another one. By Christine I mean the truck has a history and not a good one. If you saw the movie, or read the book you get the idea.
I live about 140 miles from the terminal in Jackson, so me taking a truck home is a gray matter. Since I live closer to Gulfport than to jackson they may let me take truck home so I don't have to go out of the way to pick up a load from there. Not sure yet but that is the general consensus as of right now.
It's been very quiet in the KLLM forum

Does KLLM have a policy policy about how far from the terminals they hire?
-
Im not sure about that but I do know that they will only hire students within 30 days of your graduation date! and i think i saw a post of yours the other day sayin you've been out for a couple weeks, I think it was you anyway.......just a heads up hope it helps
-
I graduate in March, so it couldn't have been me. I think most of the companies that hire students have that kind of thing about being 30 days out. Too bad schools don't tell students that.

Congradulations PolarBearExpress. Hope you get a good truck. Yeah, I kinda figured that if you lived close to Gulfport, you'd be able to keep your truck. They haul alot of Banana's out of the port there. I live just 30 miles east of Baton Rouge, and everytime I left the house, it was deadhead to Gulfport for bananas. Actually, I loved it. The loads were easy, (except I hated driving Hwy 49 North out of Gulfport to Jackson or I-59 most times. I always scaled at the J one exit west of there) but I loved going to Shelbyville, Indiana to drop at Kroger or to Olney, Illinois to the best Walmart DC on the map. They unload you fast. There are good Places to stay if you get there early. They were my favorite runs and I always tried to get one of those two when I could. Man I miss KLLM. I'm doing OK on local driving, but I miss the real road.

sry my bad, but i agree with you about the schools I have to go to school again in july
lol
-
Are they expecting you to attend the entire course or just a refresher?

KLLM said i have to to the entire Course over again, I haven't drivin since March 28th 2008 my last day in school, I was only 18 and between my age, lack of experiance, the economy crashing, and the fact that everyone arround here is a Class A Driver no one was willing to hire me to drive anything! I tried EVERYONE no lie lol
but from what im hearing here about how good KLLM is I think its worth spending $2750 on school Again lol -
This brings up a question.
Tell me if I'm right or not. A prehire from a company is them telling you they have already accepted your application, did the checks, etc on you and that you will be hired upon graduation of an approved driving school.
Do most of the companies that hire students do prehires? Does KLLM? -
Prehires mean nothing
all that it is saying is that they want you to come to orientation, they haven't done any backround or MVR checks on you yet, you still have to pass a DOT physical and a Drug test and alot of companies you have to road test as soon as you get there.
rule of thumb they havent "hired you" until you get out of your trainers truck and they hand you the keys to your own rig
and yes most companies do prehires im not sure about KLLM
i hope i answered your question theres tons of thread on here about Prehires being BSLast edited: Jan 29, 2010
