No weights are regulated provincially and each is different.
Ontario and east the spread is recognized but at different weights
Manitoba and saskatchewan is questionable as to weight (I have seen spreads but I don't know if they are now allowed or sneakin' round).
Alberta can turn a blind eye to the regs.
BC is definitely light weight only.Last edited: Jul 1, 2022

Manitoba is a mess. Once you’re off the TCH you have to pay attention. Weights all change on primary and secondary highways. A lot of them the tridem is down to 21,000 where TAC on the TCH allows 23,000.singlescrewshaker, staceydude, God prefers Diesels and 2 others Thank this.

Legal in eastern Provinces, out west it only good for US weight.singlescrewshaker, CAXPT, staceydude and 1 other person Thank this.

Truck was in getting a steering box that was suppose to show up Thursday am.
Took the p/u with gloves and winch bar and strapped this load, headed to the carolinas for a tuesday am drop, or so I thought....
Wrong steering box showed up Thursday am, new one coming Monday. Not sure who benefitted from my work... but I'm sitting home in East Uniacke,.....
So..... I have some time to figure this out.... I got this from a friend who passed, no papers with it, and it blew main fuses as soon as you could get it started. Its last plate says 1989 so it hasnt run in a while. Rebuilt the carbs after a vapor blast, figured out the short is inside the handle bar wiring on the right side. Runs and idles well, no smoke. Only 60,000 kms on it.
If I can get the papers figured out, I'm going to order a bunch of parts and do a lite restoration on her. Love these ald KZ's. -
Wrapped up a nice week of 2500 loaded miles, five different loads, with only 275 miles deadhead. This last one brought a tear to my eye. 1977 cat 950 wheel loader. I grew up with one of these, some of my earliest memories of my dad was me sitting on his lap running this thing. I then moved on at about 12 years old loading trucks with it, all the way till I was out of the house and he sold it. I lost dad last year may 10th. When I started it up, and rolled it on the deck, i had such a huge wave of sound, smell, feel, of the engine noise, the heavy steering wheel, hydraulic controls, I wanted to go right back to that place in time. Such a treat. These old dinosaurs will never die, such a testament of when things were built with care, by proud Americans.
