1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I got my class a in November of 2008 after driving straight trucks for 21 years. I get payed by the hour more than most class a drivers around here for running a class b tanker. I hate to let my class a go to waste, but the pay rate sucks for local drivers in Texas.

Easy to keep and hard to get - again. Don't think you're letting it go to waste but keeping your future options open by maintaining the class a as well as any endorsements you have with it.

You already have it in your wallet, right? Not taking up any extra room, right? Already paid for, right? So why would you go to DMV office and pay a fee probably, to have them remove your "A" status because you are not driving "A" currently?

Yeah, that really wasn't a question but more of gripe. I have no plans on letting any of my endorsements expire. My haz mat is up in august and I will not let that go. My med card is still good for another year and I even have a TWIC card. My problem is I only have a few months of t/t exp and my company is scrapping by. Working only 4 days a week, but I made more money working 70 hours in the last to weeks than what I would make at some other company working 5 days a week in 80 hours. I also work 3 1/2 mile from my house and can start my day when I want. I guess I'm just getting bored in the little truck and it's an automatic which makes it that much more boring.

Lazy lighting, Dude....Relax...... There was a commercial years back where a 4 wheeler guy rented a Penske 24' moving van for a 3 day state to state move. As soon as he left the lot, he envisioned himself as an 18 wheeler and started in with the lingo and thumbs up to other' big truck 'drivers. He would have his arm out the window cruising down the highway and waving to other truckers. Of course, he just thought that truckers were like that. But, for some reason, I have visions of you cruising around Austin on I-35 doing the same thing. But, I do have a warped sense of humor!
