Must have been a Fuller. The Spicer was the 1463 that was the main in a 6+4, with a different gear set and the funny split 4th gear.CAXPT, cke and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.

Dad did the same with his formula 315 that had a different button in it already before he bought it. Then a few weeks later his friend he always ran with burnt a hole on his 350 Lol. Didn't know any better back then, bare bones 9700 no gauges. Ran like a raped ape for 300k tho.

Find a farmer has an old gas engine grain truck you can drive for a day. You’ll feel like you’ve got a KT under the cab after that and it won’t bother you anymore. Worked for me, after moving dozers and crawler cranes with 534’s and 549’s even a 262 Cummins seemed like huge power.Blue jeans, 201, CAXPT and 2 others Thank this.

Very true.
I used to regularly gross 79,990
With a cabover international , spring ride , no power steering , and a 300 Cummins with a 9 speed , from sylacauga Alabama to Atlanta , three days a week, and 79,900 from Cedar Springs Georgia down by Dothan , to Atlanta .
Was a slow bumpy ride , but i managed to make some decent money doing it . -
Sorry for the lack of an update, I'm give one this weekend. Right now, I'm sitting on a ramp in IL, got pulled over for an inspection. Didn't ask for the keys, so I'm guessing possibly just checking my license and logs.
Coffey, D.Tibbitt, Blue jeans and 3 others Thank this. -
Okay, so a little later than I wanted, but here is an update. So, 2 months later, and I've had the following work done to the truck:
PM (holy cow, they charged me nearly $900 at the carrier)
Valve Stem on psgr steer
2 fuel filters
2 new batteries
and an air line fitting
Now ... The reason for the fuel filters is because the truck has the old school tanks that draw from the absolute bottom of the tank, so crap gets sucked up in it.
After expenses, my net has been $2,700+
Carrier takes 35% (yes, ouch), covers cargo/auto insurance, provides trailer, securement equipment, handles maint/repairs on trailer, provides shop services @ $42/hr, and deducts from my settlement.
2 rounds to Chicago, and I'm home every weekend, and usually a full day through the week.
Not too shabbyCoffey, beastr123, Speed_Drums and 4 others Thank this. -
First blowout. Hey, tires are 5+ years
First place I called had a single virgin 11r24.5 firestone for $900+ ... just for the tire, not including install.
Getting two recaps for $280 each + install

If it were me...
I would make sure the steers at least have two brand new high quality tires.
For the eight tires in the rear I would look around to see maybe if you can find some good used tires and make sure you have tires on your truck that are not that old that you're going to have blowouts or problems like that.
I myself would stay away from recaps. You don't know the history of the casing and you really need to be anal about making sure you have the right pressure in the tires always. And when they blow out they can blow your fenders off and do other damage also. Could even possibly maybe cause an accident.
I would put more faith in a used virgin tire than I would in a recap.
Or just bite the bullet and put new tires all the way around.
Like I have been saying all along, it's all about making that truck as dependable as you can make it.CAXPT, D.Tibbitt, LameMule and 1 other person Thank this.
