I'm a single 30 year old who's not held a job in over 3 years, i've been coasting off savings and enjoying some early me-time after a decade in a factory. I've wanted to drive semi ever since i stopped working at the factory, and have spent those 3 years passively watching any trucker youtube videos i could find, answering most questions i didn't know i had, i've even got the pre-trip inspection 100% memorized word for word, and have practiced on a couple tractors that ensure i know what i'm actually repeating. A couple months ago we had some deaths in the immediate family and i've been financially drained, even if i get back into the factory, my chances of staying afloat are pretty low. I have to get into a stable career and i'm determined it will be trucking.
Most of those 3 years involved heavy use of (legal in my state but still shows up as THC) Delta 8 CBD. I've quit and i can pass a urinalysis, but don't think i can pass a hair follicle. Prime is one of the few companies I've found that, as far as i know, does not do hair follicle testing and seems to be a great choice for that reason.
On top of this reason, and to continue with me being financially drained, i'd need to sell my vehicle in order to afford the equipment, clothing, self-care, baggage, phone, phone service, school deposit, physical, permit test and more. With Prime offering paid transportation to their facility, as well as a paid room and three daily meals, this seems to extremely ideal to my situation. If my thoughts are correct, i'd be able to show up with $0 in my wallet and manage to survive financially until pay starts to roll in, and i wouldn't need a vehicle right away, and could possibly even lease a new vehicle if needed after a few months on the road.
Is Prime really that bad? Every question concerning them seems to have an answer steering them away to other companies, why is this? Also, if Prime truly is that bad, are there alternatives that only do urinalysis testing AND offers paid training? Thank you.

So what happens when something at Prime shows you the door? Stuck in Springfield with no money, no job and no vehicle? No back up plan? Look at working at a local freight company closet o your home, start on the dock if you have to, get established before reaching for the moon and stars.

I don't think prime is any worse than any other training company.

Last time i smoked was around a month ago, i've passed three different urinalysis tests and have been working out/drinking water like a madman. I'm confident i'm clean in that route, but i know theres no fooling with hair.Boondock, Another Canadian driver and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
