Just wanted to say hello to every one on the site. I am a previous owner operator but sold off my business in 2004. I pulled an enddump during the spring thru fall months hauling rock, sand and grain, and leased out to company pulling reefer in the winter. I am seriously considering getting back in business again but this time getting own authority and finding my own freight and using broker freight. wondering what i should pull reefer, van,or flat? I am wondering if not driving for 5 years is going to effect whether i would be able to get any business though? I notice all companies are wanting recent experience. Any input would be appreciated, before i sold out i had 15 years driving experience.![]()
hello; ex-owner operator looking to get back in the game.

Hi Mike, If you get your own authority customers(shippers), & brokers don't care about your experience (they assume you know what you're doing) as long as your not hitting everything you come across they are more concerned on getting the cheapest rates. I'm no outlaw & just trying to help, when you apply for your Auto Liability Ins. give them your overall experience don't tell them you haven't drove for 5 years.
If you're planning on Leasing on with a company I feel your chances are very slim with not driving for 5 years.
