I want to know about their equipment-
Do they maintain equipment well?
How often do they PM?
Do they run tires/brakes to DOT minimum?
Do the trucks have APUs, inverters or fridges?
Do the trailers have dump valves?
Do they have toolboxes or cabinets for storing securement equipment?
How much and what kind of securement equipment do they issue you?
Are you allowed to use snap binders?
I also have some general questions about the company.
What kind of commodities are you hauling? Do you get any say in what you haul or do you haul whatever you dispatcher sends you?
Do you like/get along with your dispatcher?
How many hours do you work per day?
How many loads do you haul a week?
Is pay steady?
How much is your average paycheck?
Do you get detention pay?
Do you haul a lot of preloaded trailers?
What percent of loads do you have to tarp?
Where are you allowed to fuel?
And some about their training/orientation-
How long was orientation?
How long were you with a trainer?
Did your trainer "train" or use you as another set of hours?
Anything else I should know? Thanks. -
@h82bbad I see you are with Maverick. Can you answer any of these questions?
-
If you cant find the answer here maybe try Reddits rtruckers. Seens to be some active Maverick drivers there.jmarc77 Thanks this.

Okay I'll give it a shot!
They do well maintaining our equipment.
Company trucks are on a 35k maint intervals.
The trucks run an epu. And do have a fridge. Most also are now equipped with side mirror cameras. And blind spot.
I've never seen them run a trucks tire down to minimum. They stay on top of it.
Equipment?
They have a basic load out depending on the division you are in. Couldn't tell you what it is though. I'm IC Glass so my load out isn't the same as others.. I only carry 4 chains. 4 over center binders and some straps.
They pay detention pay. I think it is 15 per hour after 2 hours.
The rest would be better answered by a company driver. As I'm an independent contractor.
They do get bypass for scales, ezpass, fuel at loves or pilot (I use pilot )( they give us extra points )
Training is done in little Rock, but they are also starting to train in other locations. I went through their program about 4 years ago. .so a lot has changed. Your trainer does train (after you have your cdl and have passed securement training. You go with a driver trainer for 3 weeks. They don't run as a team. Most I know do the first day driving to set the expectation then the trainee will be driving after that.Speed_Drums, jmarc77 and Val_Caldera Thank this. -
Thanks for answering what you can. Do they have driver facing cameras?
-
Yes they do. So far it has not been an issue. As long as you don't have the phone in your hand and drive safe you won't have any issues.jmarc77, Speed_Drums and andrewsdad Thank this.
