Most 00-99 engines are capable. But some not all didn't have consist 12v to diagnostic port. Easily could be changed. But that was the cut off point so people did not have to retrofit. Could have been done for less than 100 bucks.
Thats why mechanicals are cost prohibitive. Can be done, just to much money to achieve it.
They had tachographs in the 30's or 40's. Anything is possible.

Wish you well with this. When you start running it regularly, be curious to know what kind of mileage you are getting with an electronic 8v-92. One of my first trucks was my fathers 78 Pete with an 8v-92ta. Still have that truck, although it hasn't been started in about 25 years.jldilley Thanks this.

I’ll be certain to keep everyone posted. I just bought a Kenworth with an N14 Cummins, so I’ll be focused on getting that mixed in to regular operation. It might be a year or so as I track down a tractor for the application (planning on a K100A), but I’m grateful for all the good information now. It will definitely be useful.
