Trucker arrested for using fraudulent license plate to avoid EZPass tolls, Maine State Police say
Technically since it was a Massachusetts plate, the driver could also possibly face charges there as well.

Couple of years ago they caught a truck driver avoiding tolls using a cable that flipped the plate down.
silverspur, austinmike, JoeyJunk and 3 others Thank this. -
"The complaint led to a multi-agency investigation involving New York State Police, the New Hampshire State Police, and US Customs and Border Protection."
Have enough people working to catch one truck?
Flat Earth Trucker, Long FLD, silverspur and 5 others Thank this. -
Gotta spend a million dollars because someone had the nerve to steal $10 from the government....
And, of course, they fail to mention the 100's they don't catch.JoeyJunk, Socal Xpress, sevenmph and 1 other person Thank this. -
He used the fraudulent plate across various toll highways that use the EZPASS system. Plus there are a couple of bridges between New York State and Ontario that uses the system as well. That makes it an international investigation by default. They don’t take that lightly.Last edited: Jul 16, 2022

When I was running Amazon loads last winter I found some of the trailers I had to move had their license plates folded over to block some of the numbers and one had the old grease smudge.
I worked overnight and late one night I followed another truck into an Amazon DC and I noticed his trailer plate was folded over. When we got to where we needed to check in he spun around in front me and I got a good look at both his front and rear bumpers. He had no plates on his tractor and was based in Brooklyn NY.
I guess you can get away with that if you operate only at night and avoid the open weigh stations, makes them cheap Amazon loads a little more profitable.bzinger, JoeyJunk, Cat sdp and 1 other person Thank this. -
I juuuuust don't think the entire department of three agencies were out in force scouring the roads.
More like an investigator from each department was assigned to the case, and then they continue their search via the internet & angency systems. -
How does that work if you're from an area that only issues 1 plate?
-
That’s where he F’up.
Massachusetts REQUIRES TWO PLATES on ALL motor vehicles registered in the state-including CMVs-you can’t pass state inspection without them. If you lose one plate you are REQUIRED under state law to report as lost or stolen and you’ll have to get new plates-this case is one of the reasons why,in case someone is stupid enough to try use that lost/stolen plate in illicit activity!
And since New York is investigating the use of fictitious registration in that state is a felony charge!
Layman’s terms-he’s in deep ****!!! -
I mean like how do the readers work? Where I'm from we only get 1 plate issued and it goes either on the front of a tractor-trailer or rear of a straight truck.
