Flatbed truck drivers are responsible for safely hauling goods across the United States (all lower 48 states) including products such as the following: lumber, coils, steel, construction equipment, and more. Over-the-road flatbed drivers get home every 3-4 weeks and can take their truck home with them for hometime.

Wow. You've given me plenty of options to consider. Wow.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
If you decide to move from Vermont to another state, there's dozens more.
I moved to Las Vegas; it's 108 degrees right now and I love it! Low humidity means no sweating. -
This is plenty to consider right now. Training programs offered by places like TMC and Maverick are on my mind.
I'm definitely open to leaving Vermont for the right company. My interest is to work lots (run recaps?).Chinatown Thanks this. -
My suggestion would be to read the threads here where drivers describe the work they are doing in each type of trucking. Starting out, flatbed, dry van, and reefer are probably your safest options. I run reefer, myself. I am doing exactly as you described. My truck is a small apartment. I have been home twice since Thanksgiving. I can't tell you a whole lot about flatbed. Danny Herman Trucking has among the highest average length of haul for any company out there, but you will have to get experience first, I believe. It's a company that is all dry van. Knight Transportation is a good company for flatbed, and the company has a school. Knight also has reefer and dry van divisions. Just some ideas for you to consider.Chinatown Thanks this.
