I don't know of anyone else that would take you without recent. Have you tried W/S?

Werner has "pre-hired" me or whatever they call it. I am probably pending background, mvr, and dac report checks. Those are all squeaky clean so there should be no issues. I am to call Monday to setup an orientation date.

Swift said they would take me but has not been hiring experienced drivers. They would set me out solo right after orientation. I'd like to get on a dedicated route if they happen to call me soon.

But I dont want to HiJack this thread

The recent experience rule is getting more and more prevalent. The companies are being forced into this rule because of the insurance requirement.

When we were at Swift's orientation, couple of years ago, there were a couple of past-experienced drivers (but nothing in the last 6 months) that were offered 2 weeks with a trainer then solo status. One of them accepted the other didn't. The guy that accepted was with the trainer for a week and he got solo status.

"prehire" means you have been invited to a 2-3 interview (orientation).

If you have had three employers in a short amount of time, it would behoove (like that word?) you to get a copy of your DAC. You may think you left them under good terms, but you might be surprised what they really thought.

With most companies anymore it doesn't matter. The good companies want steady employment, the others are just ridiculous. I drove for 6 years and came off the road when my oldest son was born. I worked as a local driver and instructor for 3 years. When I wanted to do OTR again, I only found one company that would hire me despite my lack of "recent OTR experience". I couldn't believe those companies! I never stopped driving, just stopped driving OTR, but they still wanted to put me with a trainer! I had a local company who hired me for OTR. I stayed with them for 3 years till health issues made me go local again.

Yeah thats a joke. You wont run into that BS in any other field. If I went back into the marines, they wouldnt make me do boot camp over again. I would go back where I left off. Same rank and everything. These companies have no respect for drivers anymore. Im not speaking about myself since Im not exactly "experienced", but some of you guys deserve better.
