they're ~10 lbs each of oil-damped rotating mass inside each tube, bolted between the duals they balance all mass mechanically attached to the hub, drum+wheels+tires, including rocks in the tread and any irregularities developed in the brake drums over time, compensated for from the inside out. tire beads sit at the periphery of the tread and not mechanically fixed in any way to the hub. i'd be interested to know how much force difference there is between a couple ounces of non-damped plastic beads spinning at the periphery of a 295 tread vs 10 lbs of oil-damped metal bearings mechanically fixed to the center of the entire hub assembly spinning at basically half the diameter

I’d like to add as a note of caution. The beads will act as an abrasive and wear away at the inside of the tire. Sometimes these folks fail to think about the side effects of their invention.

I put 12 ounces of ceramic beads each in my steers and drives. When tires are swapped out I shop vac them out and re-use them over again.

Centramatics are not 10 lbs of weight. Not even close. Really if you need more than a few ounces to balance a tire, and 12 is way overkill, you've got bigger issues that need addressing and balancing won't fix that.

And I don't understand how something fixed to the center of the hub is supposed to balance out say a gravel stuck in one of the outer grooves of tread? Beads are inside the whole tire and go exactly where they're needed. Centramatics don't do that.

Half gallon of antifreeze is a lot cheaper than balance beads ... works the same. Just sayin

Our company quit using balance beads or powders .. in winter the front ends hops till beads move into location our trucks go into shop between trips every week to get checked out and greased . Moisture must build up and freeze beads overnight in Canadian winters.. in summer they worked great though

So far I’ve put 35,000 miles on them. Wearing great and ride is very smooth. Fuel mileage is suffering a little compared to my old Michelins but these are still fairly new and with a much deeper tread. We will see at 100k miles, Will keep you updated.

    They looked great brand new.
They don’t wear out even when tread goes lower. Or at last didn’t on my truck.

For me Toyo M920 for drives only.
~373k miles on a set, while these Goodyears didn’t last 200k.
