after 35 yrs or so i now work for less than i did 20yrs ago,.couple that with the over enforcement,. in the last 5 yrs the "minor" tickets are becoming incredible, safety is a great thing, but if exaggerated it sure slows down production,.it's a whole career for some folks that don't do anything to contribute to some industries except dream up new ways of making a paperwork trail to cover liabilities,. Every time there's a situation, the "Professional" driver is under a microscope, couple that with 1/2 trained Law enforcement officers of every department,.all out to prove they too can regulate the "professional" driver,.
How many other industries have jobs where you might work all day and come home owing money,. then having to take time off to defend yourself in the courts, time off from revenue generation,. being policed by salaried people that are incapable of doing anything in the trucking industry other than police it,.
So you love diesel smoke?,.. The sound of the diesel motor, shifting the gears? running the open road etc? satisfying your wanderlust? expertly controlling a large semi truck? making split second decisions to save the lives of those around you?
Get therapy,. investigate the 'real' side of the trucking industry before you climb up behind the wheel,..or become an O/O thats making some guy behind a desk with a phone more money in a year than you'll make yourself,.
I,m here to tell you all about it,..
I can haul anything,.i can operate most machines, over dimensional, over weight has always been my specialty,.
Now these days,. i,m only as good as the next newbie that can pilot the auto stick vehicle into the dropoff yard,. meh.
Lots of good reading on this forum,. so many fresh faced naive folks in love with the romantic side of trucking,. the reality being, it will draw the life out of you and leave you feeling disheartened and used up, and if you leave it too long, you'll end up wondering what the heck else in live you're gonna do now,.
